  • This year’s Pumpkin Smash was a powerful reminder that sustainability starts right in our own community. 🎃♻️ By composting carved and uncarved pumpkins, participants helped divert organic waste from landfills and transform it into nutrient-rich soil, supporting a healthier environment and promoting long-term sustainability. We’re proud to see our community come together to make a tangible impact for our planet while also supporting the Moraine Township Food Pantry through our Thanksgiving collection drive. We were thrilled to have Go Green Highland Park and the City of Highland Park's Sustainability Advisory Group join us at the event, sharing valuable insights and inspiring continued action toward a greener future. Thank you to everyone who joined us in turning post-Halloween waste into something meaningful. Together, we’re building a greener, more connected community. #PumpkinSmash #Sustainability #GoGreen #Composting

  • Learning. Growing. Serving our community. 🌳 Members of our management team attended today’s Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) Legal Symposium, where they gained valuable insights on new state and federal laws that help us better serve our community. The Park District of Highland Park is a proud member of IAPD, an incredible organization that supports, educates, and advocates for park districts across Illinois. Opportunities like this help us stay informed, connected, and committed to providing the very best for our community.

  • That’s a wrap on our CliftonStrengths Team-Building Workshops! ⛳️ This week, staff came together for a hands-on team challenge designing and building their own mini golf holes! Beyond the creativity and laughter, these workshops are an opportunity for our staff to connect, collaborate, and better understand one another’s strengths. By recognizing that not everyone thinks or works the same way, we can leverage our diverse talents to build stronger, more effective teams. #CliftonStrengths #TeamBuilding

  • This week, during our recent Board Meeting, members came together to recognize an extraordinary milestone: 50 years of full-time service by Bill Quirk! Bill’s journey with the Park District began at just 14 years old. Over the decades, he has built a remarkable career as a highly skilled, self-taught mechanic, keeping our parks and facilities running smoothly through his ingenuity, perseverance, and care. From bulldozers and garbage trucks to stump grinders and tractors, Bill has restored and maintained the essential equipment that keeps our community moving. Following in his father’s footsteps, Bill continues a proud family legacy, with the Quirk family contributing over 90 years of dedication to Highland Park. Beyond his technical expertise, Bill is known for going above and beyond whether it’s late-night snow plowing or offering help with his trademark positive attitude. We are proud to honor Bill with an official resolution celebrating his 50 years of outstanding service and lasting impact on our community. Please join us in congratulating Bill on this incredible achievement and thanking him for his unwavering commitment to the Park District of Highland Park!
