  • Did you know that PAWS Atlanta has a full-time Trainer and Behavior Consultant? That's right! MarLee Thompson, CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA, SDC, works with our dogs to ensure they have all the tools and enrichment possible. And now, thanks to a $15,000 grant from PEDIGREE Foundation she can do even more! 👏 Our behavioral training programs help our dogs learn skills to succeed in homes and strategies for staying happy and healthy in the shelter. Our ✨ Shelter Success Program teaches our long-term dogs new skills, improve their behaviors, and increase their visibility to potential adopters. We also offer training sessions to new adopters to help them get to know their new pup and help their dog adjust to their new forever home. 🐶 Thank you, PEDIGREE Foundation, for helping make all this possible! ❤️

  • Cowboy's story is one of our all-time favorites! He's a testament to the difference pets can make in our lives. Thank you to Petco and Petco Love for featuring his story and for awarding PAWS Atlanta a $10k grant to continue to save animals like Cowboy 👏

On a cold night in Georgia, sweet Cowboy was tied to a post outside of a shelter and abandoned — scared, alone. Thanks to Petco Love supporters like you, he received love and care from shelter partner PAWS Atlanta, and was adopted by active-duty Army member Johnny and his wife Erin. When duty called Johnny overseas, Cowboy became Erin’s constant source of comfort and strength. His love, loyalty and gentle spirit carried the family through months of separation.    Today, Cowboy is a hero’s best friend and one of over 7 million pets saved through Petco Love’s work, including countless service pets supporting our nation's veterans each and every day. • We love our volunteer groups, and we had a blast with this group from AtkinsRéalis! They tackled so many projects for us and brought a huge donation of supplies with them too. Thank you to their whole team!

    Project Manager at AtkinsRealis

October is Adopt an Animal Shelter Dog Month 🐶 To celebrate, several of my coworkers and myself on our Employee Activities Committee at AtkinsRéalis organized a volunteer event at PAWS Atlanta and held a food/supplies drive throughout the month. I’m grateful to work with several like-minded colleagues who share the same passion for giving back and helping out local animal shelters. This past Saturday we were able to deliver over 100 bags of dog/cat food and various other much needed supplies to the shelter. I’m so proud of the amount of donations we received throughout the month. My dog, Riley, was sad to see all of the food go from my garage but she’s happy to give back to her fellow rescue pups. At the shelter, we split up into groups and helped tackle many of the outstanding projects. These included clearing out cut tree limbs at the shelter entrance, unloading and organizing our donation, unloading a pallet of dog food that was recently dropped off, clearing out the cat cottage which is getting renovated this week, organizing linens, and sorting through leashes/harnesses. Then to cap off the event, we all got to have some puppy play time with 3 of adorable puppies currently at the shelter. Thank you to PAWS Atlanta for allowing us to volunteer and for all that they do for our community in Atlanta. If you are looking to adopt a pet, I highly encourage you to reach out to them. They have been around for almost 60 years and are an incredibly well ran shelter.
