  • Thank you to Upstream Rehabilitation for lending a hand to our team and our animals! We love our volunteer groups, and they always pack a week of work into a few hours which is a huge help to our team. If you'd like to volunteer with your group, get on our calendar now for 2026! Last week some team members from the Decatur Avondale, Chastain Park, and Dunwoody clinics volunteered at the oldest no kill shelter in Atlanta, PAWS Atlanta ! Our clinics have been volunteering quarterly with them for four years now. Upstream Rehabilitation gives employees 8 volunteer hours a year to pour back into their communities and we look forward to two hours a quarter helping the staff and animals at PAWS. This time we built cat towers, sorted donations, organized the food pantry and helped complete a fence in the play yard…. Of course we end every volunteer experience with puppy socialization! Already looking forward to next time! • Did you know that PAWS Atlanta has a full-time Trainer and Behavior Consultant? That's right! MarLee Thompson, CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA, SDC, works with our dogs to ensure they have all the tools and enrichment possible. And now, thanks to a $15,000 grant from PEDIGREE Foundation she can do even more! 👏 Our behavioral training programs help our dogs learn skills to succeed in homes and strategies for staying happy and healthy in the shelter. Our ✨ Shelter Success Program teaches our long-term dogs new skills, improve their behaviors, and increase their visibility to potential adopters. We also offer training sessions to new adopters to help them get to know their new pup and help their dog adjust to their new forever home. 🐶 Thank you, PEDIGREE Foundation, for helping make all this possible! ❤️

  • Cowboy's story is one of our all-time favorites! He's a testament to the difference pets can make in our lives. Thank you to Petco and Petco Love for featuring his story and for awarding PAWS Atlanta a $10k grant to continue to save animals like Cowboy 👏

On a cold night in Georgia, sweet Cowboy was tied to a post outside of a shelter and abandoned — scared, alone. Thanks to Petco Love supporters like you, he received love and care from shelter partner PAWS Atlanta, and was adopted by active-duty Army member Johnny and his wife Erin. When duty called Johnny overseas, Cowboy became Erin’s constant source of comfort and strength. His love, loyalty and gentle spirit carried the family through months of separation.    Today, Cowboy is a hero’s best friend and one of over 7 million pets saved through Petco Love’s work, including countless service pets supporting our nation's veterans each and every day.
