At Playworks we believe in the power of play to bring out the best in every kid. We create a place for every kid on the playground to get active, build valuable skills, connect, and have fun. We partner with schools, districts, and community-based organizations to provide a service or mix of services, including on-site coaches, professional training for school staff who support recess, and consultative partnerships.

As a fourth grader, Alaina was shy and looked up to the confidence and joy that her Playworks Coach brought to the playground. She joined Playworks’ Junior Coach Leadership Program and led younger students at recess, where she discovered a sense of self foundational to her personal growth. 👏 Big shoutout to the incredible Need in Deed students at Middle Years Academy and their teacher Ms. Knight , who saw a problem and took action! Unsatisfied with the lack of recess, they dove into research—interviewing a pediatrician and representatives from Playworks to understand the benefits of play and physical activity. Armed with their findings, they made a compelling case to their principal—and succeeded in bringing recess back to their school! This is youth advocacy at its finest.
