But the system is tilted against everyday entrepreneurs. We can change that. Right to Start is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that is fighting to expand entrepreneurial opportunity for all through civic change. We give entrepreneurs a voice at the local, state, and federal levels through advocating for pro-entrepreneur policies with civic leaders and policymakers, grassroots organizing, and storytelling and media.

The National Entrepreneurship Leaders Network (NELN) unites leaders of Offices of Entrepreneurship and/or similar public sector agencies that are trailblazing support for entrepreneurship. Esperanza is the Director of Small Business & Entrepreneurship Development for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC). Here is how Esperanza describes the impactful work her division is doing to help entrepreneurs in Arkansas: "Through initiatives such as 75Strong, ARise, and our accelerator programs, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Small Business & Entrepreneurship Development Division equips Arkansas entrepreneurs with training, mentorship, and the tools needed to launch and grow. Our Arkansas Business Resource Hub connects founders to statewide programs, funding, and expert support. These efforts collectively position Arkansas as a place where small businesses can innovate, compete, and succeed." From the Heartland to the Coast, the Right to Start team was busy this Global Entrepreneurship Week! 🚀 Here’s a snapshot of how we celebrated and advocated for entrepreneurs across the country: 📍 INDIANA IN Coalition Manager Courtney Zaugg, CEcD, EDP presented at the Starters Coalition Meet-up in Muncie! The energy was electric as local entrepreneurs shared advice (“Do it scared! And know your worth!”) and discussed real policy barriers. 📍 NORTH CAROLINA The team was in full force at NC IDEA! Senior Director of Field & Campaign Strategy Catherine Read and Chief Government Affairs Officer Jason Grill broke down barriers on a panel, while NC Coalition Manager Paula Pingel, MS, MBA and NC Advocate Dr. Vania R. helped lead a workshop on advocacy. The goal? Helping founders create “mini advocacy plans” to make their voices heard by policymakers. 📍 CALIFORNIA Our CEO Victor W. Hwang joined California Coalition Manager Cameron R. Law at the Carlsen Center to discuss America the Entrepreneurial + Right to Start! 📍 OKLAHOMA Ambassador Cecilia Wessinger was on the ground in OKC and Tulsa, spreading the message of America the Entrepreneurial and building community connections.
