A Special Olympics delegation led by David Evangelista, Special Olympics Europe Eurasia President & Managing Director and incoming Special Olympics International CEO, met with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC team headed by Secretary General Jagan Chapagain, in Geneva, Switzerland. The discussion focused on building upon the strong global partnership #SpecialOlympics and #IFRC have shared since 2013, exploring new opportunities to advance inclusive health worldwide and expand the Unified with Refugees program to more communities in need. David Evangelista said: "The Special Olympics–IFRC partnership represents an impactful global platform advancing humanitarian action, social inclusion, and resilience for people with intellectual disabilities around the world. Together, we have the opportunity to extend critical health access, refugee support, and inclusive development to some of the world’s most marginalized populations. We thank the IFRC and its Secretary General Jagan Chapagain for the leadership and continued commitment to advancing inclusion on a global scale." #InclusiveHealth #ChooseToInclude #UnifiedwithRefugees

Today is World Physiotherapy Day! 🌍 💪 As people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) continue to live longer, healthcare professionals, like physiotherapists, play a key role in addressing age-related concerns—like falls and imbalance. Through Special Olympics FUNfitness, the physiotherapy discipline of Special Olympics Healthy Athletes®, over 100,000 individuals with IDD have been screened globally. Nearly 43% of those screened have demonstrated an imbalance. Physiotherapists can help make a difference, but need to be familiar with the unique challenges people with IDD face as they age. 🔗 To learn more, physiotherapy professionals and students are encouraged to explore the 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟯 - 𝗢𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 online module to better support people with IDD as they age.
