What happens when Western New Yorkers gain access to one of the world’s most powerful venture capital networks? Thanks to Springboard’s full scholarship funding, Colleen E. Heidinger, President of 43North, joined the highly selective Kauffman Fellows program, and the ripple effects for Buffalo’s startup ecosystem are already underway. From top VC leaders visiting Buffalo for 43North Finals, to a Kauffman Fellow investing directly in a local company, this opportunity is connecting our region to global deal flow, talent, and expertise in a way we’ve never seen before. Springboard is on a mission to continuously expand access so that WNY leaders can participate in transformational programs like this, ultimately bringing more and more value and growth to our entrepreneurial ecosystem. • Investing in one program can empower dozens of entrepreneurs – and strengthen an entire community. That’s why Springboard was created! Through a 2025 Springboard grant, the ROC Women's Business Center launched Hustle to Enterprise, helping entrepreneurs in Rochester turn ideas into sustainable businesses. As Warren Miller shared, this support doesn’t stop at one program. It ripples outward, creating economic impact through new business launches, job creation, and local spending on everything from food to legal and accounting services.

  • Innovation doesn’t just happen in big tech hubs – it’s growing right here in WNY. 2025 Springboard grant winner NextCorps helped democratize app building through its AI Startup Jam, giving everyday innovators the tools once reserved for developers. By teaching participants how to use AI to bring their ideas to life, NextCorps is unlocking a new wave of creativity and opportunity across the region. Dustin Wilson, Startup Community Manager at NextCorps, worked alongside NextCorps president Jim Senall & progam leader Matt Foley. He shared, “All we need is one big win here to draw attention to Rochester, and with these new tools, those wins are closer than ever.” Springboard is proud to support programs like NextCorps that fuel innovation, empower communities, and help Western New York entrepreneurs turn ideas into impact.

  • Entrepreneurship fuels our local economy—and it deserves the support to thrive. That’s why 2025 Springboard grant winner, the ROC Women's Business Center, launched Hustle to Enterprise: a six-week business growth program helping women entrepreneurs move from day-to-day hustle to long-term sustainability. Serena Matera applied for the Springboard grant because entrepreneurship is vital to our communities but often underfunded. Springboard is proud to support organizations like the ROC Women’s Business Center that are empowering women, building sustainable businesses, and strengthening Western New York’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

  • When entrepreneurs are given the tools and support to bring their ideas to life, incredible things happen. 2025 Springboard grant winner NextCorps hosted the AI Startup Jam, where innovators like Kyla turned bold ideas into working products in just one weekend. Her winning app uses AI to match your online purchases with the clothes already in your closet – helping women build smarter, more confident wardrobes. Over three days, Kyla and more than 40 other participants learned how to use AI tools, collaborated with mentors, and built functional apps, many with no prior coding experience. Springboard is proud to support programs like NextCorps that empower entrepreneurs to learn, create, and grow, strengthening the innovation ecosystem across Western New York. Kyla Brown | NextCorps
