Three people have been arrested on suspicion of being loan sharks in a major operation across East Sussex today. We executed simultaneous warrants early this morning at four properties, seizing documentation and electronic devices. Thanks to Sussex Police and East Sussex County Council Trading Standards for their help with this ongoing investigation and this morning’s operation. Sid the Shark has been on a mission across the East Midlands over the past few weeks! He’s been out and about visiting partners and organisations to raise awareness about loan sharks and help keep our communities safe. He stopped by Barclays UK in Derby and Nottingham, chatting to customers about how to spot the signs of illegal lending and making sure staff know where to signpost anyone who needs support. He also joined a multi-agency day hosted by Citizens Advice LeicesterShire and De Montfort University Leicester (DMU), where partners came together to explore the impact of poverty in Leicester and how we can work together for real change. Finally, he dropped in at a DACES (Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service) event in Bolsover, right by the beautiful castle, to network with partners and spread the message about staying safe from loan sharks. A huge thank you to everyone who welcomed us and got involved during this mini-tour - it was fantastic meeting so many passionate people! #stoploansharksengland
