Supplying the World's Demand for Exceptional Economists!

About us

The Texas A&M Economics Society (TAMES) is a professional student organization for economics majors. The goal of the organization is to help prepare students for the real world by learning more about some of the career paths in economics and related fields. Throughout the semester, we have speakers visit us from a wide spectrum of industries to give presentations on their respective jobs and the companies they work for. We also try to help build relationships and networking between members by holding several social events, fundraisers, and participating in community service activities like The Big Event. This group is for information regarding the Texas A&M Economics Society. Members of the society can join this group to receive information about upcoming events the society is hosting.

  • We had such a great time hearing from Pete DeLongchamps from Group 1 Automotive! He shared his journey with the company and talked about how Group 1 has continued to grow, even expanding into the UK, while staying true to its core values! Pete gave us valuable advice about our futures, reminding us to always ask companies about their values during interviews and to seek out organizations that align with who we are! His kindness, honesty, and genuine interest in our questions made this event both inspiring and memorable :) We’re so thankful he took the time to connect with us and share his perspective! • Grateful to Fisher Investments for meeting with us and sharing such valuable insight on internships and career growth. Paulina Vantha and David Williams really focused on what students want to know: how to stand out to recruiters, how to present ourselves professionally, and how to keep improving as young professionals! It was clear that they truly cared about not just giving advice, but also helping us better prepare for our future careers!! Opportunities like this remind us how important it is to hear directly from recruiters who want to see students succeed. Thank you again to Fisher Investments, and especially Paulina and David, for your time, your perspective, and your encouragement :) 📸 creds: Valeria Gallego

  • A big thank you to Paula Verdegaal and the Texas A&M Economics Department for joining us at our TAMES meeting this week and hosting the Economics Internship Panel! Hearing from both undergraduate and master’s students was such a privilege:) each panelist shared their unique journey, from navigating the application process to the lessons learned on the job. This was a little different from our usual meetings, but in the best way! Panels like this set our members up for success as they begin preparing and applying for internships, giving them encouragement, perspective, and practical advice. We’re grateful to be part of a community that creates meaningful opportunities for students to learn from one another, and we can’t wait to continue building on events like this! Shoutout to those on the panel: Lainey Wilson, Samuel Medina, Jason Ford, Daisy Romero Sotomayor, and Agustina Urcola!

  • We are incredibly grateful to Zavation for joining TAMES at our recent company night, with a special thanks to Nathan and Derek for leading such a thoughtful and engaging discussion!! The evening stood out because of the openness and depth of the conversation. Members were able to learn about Zavation’s mission, explore the world of medical innovation, and even gain insight into the sales side of the industry, an area many had never encountered before. The space created for questions and curiosity turned the night into something truly memorable! It was especially inspiring to hear from a speaker with an economics background, reminding us that econ majors are problem solvers with the ability to thrive in many different fields!! That perspective resonated deeply and left members with a sense of possibility for the future. A sincere thank you to Zavation, Nathan, and Derek for sharing this time with us. The impact of the conversation continues to inspire our members, and we are grateful to have had the chance to learn from such a meaningful perspective!
