A monumental moment in Timberlab's evolution. Yesterday, our team celebrated the topping out of Independence Hall, a new CLT manufacturing facility here in Oregon. At 192,000 square feet, this operation will be one the largest mass timber manufacturing facilities in North America. The structure was designed in partnership with regional mass timber leaders, LEVER Architecture and DCI Engineers. By combining our vertically integrated capabilities in wood sourcing, manufacturing, and engineering, and Swinerton's expertise in mass timber delivery and building systems integration, the team carried out a tightly coordinated installation process. In less than five months, crews installed: · 192,000 square feet of GLT roof panels · 240 GLT columns (32 to 45 feet tall) · 260 GLT beams (90 to 110 feet long) · 72,400 square feet of SIP panels With Kallesoe Machinery A/S arriving in the coming weeks, we look forward to the next phase of this structure and continuing to evolve our capabilities in mass timber manufacturing. On Memphis’s riverfront, the new Brooks Museum of Art utilizes regional Southern Yellow Pine for a civic structure of significant scale—an 88,000-square-foot timber framework assembled from more than 1,200 glulam members, each detailed and fabricated by our SE team. Working with Herzog & de Meuron, archimania, Grinder, Taber, & Grinder, Inc. and Hatfield Group, Timberlab delivered end-to-end mass-timber execution—connection engineering for every piece, precision fabrication through our Southeastern operations, and coordinated installation on site. By sourcing regionally and partnering with SmartLam North America™ for a local CLT supply chain, the project keeps value in the American Southeast while reducing transport emissions and embodied carbon. The result is a museum design whose architecture is supported by its own regional forest economy, and a clear demonstration of how large-scale mass timber can be designed and built in the Southeast.
