🚀 TRIATHLON project – M18 Review Meeting Highlights On August 20th, representatives from our consortium gathered in Brussels for the M18 Review Meeting of the #TRIATHLON project. We receive valuable feedback and recommendations from our Project Officer, Hugues FELIX, which will guide us through the next stages of development. 🔍 The meeting focused on the latest progress across our technical work packages: • WP1 – Hydrogen conditioning requirements • WP2 – Thermodynamics controlled storage • WP3 – Thermal management & thermodynamic performance • WP4 – System-level analysis & technology roadmap We also discussed #dissemination and #exploitation strategies to ensure the project’s results are effectively communicated and translated into real-world impact. It was a highly productive session—addressing challenges, aligning technical directions, prioritizing tasks, and defining next steps. A big thank you to CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency for supporting this innovative journey. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue advancing #hydrogen storage technologies for a sustainable future. #Consortium: Delft University of Technology | Materials innovation institute M2i | Technische Universität Dresden | Ergon Research | Sabanci University | Cryomotive GmbH | Lithoz | AMIRES. #TRIATHLONproject #HydrogenStorage #CleanEnergy #EUfunded #CINEA

✈️ 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 We’re happy to share that our partners Ergon Research and Lithoz represented the TRIATHLON project at Vienna Aviation Days 2025 last week. 🔹 Martin Schwentenwein presented the #TRIATHLON poster during the #ClimAvTech session, alongside other #EU projects working on climate-friendly aviation solutions. 🔹 Lorenzo Mazzei joined remotely to talk about #3D printed technical ceramics for thermal management in aviation, a presentation based on the joint work of Ergon Research and Lithoz. The event, hosted by EXFAN, brought together researchers, companies, and policymakers from across Europe to explore the future of sustainable aviation. We’re proud to be part of this effort and grateful for the opportunity to share what we’re working on at #TRIATHLON. #TRIATHLONproject #VAD2025 #ClimAvTech #SustainableAviation #3DPrinting

◼ 3𝐃-𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐦 𝐍𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫: 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ◼ Proving the words of our CTO, Johannes Benedikt from summer 2023: "All answers to our urgent questions today, from sustainability to climate change, will somehow contain a #3Dprinted #ceramic part as a part of the solution". As part of a forward-looking TRIATHLON project to power #aircraft with #hydrogen (currently at a low technology readiness level), we are contributing a key innovation: a ceramic 3D printed heat exchanger from Aluminum Nitirde. The main advantage of AlN is its high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion and good resistance to hydrogen embrittlement. This component ensures that liquid hydrogen is efficiently pre-warmed using excess heat before entering the fuel cell, improving overall system performance. The geometry was designed by Niccolò Casini from Ergon Research, who also conducted CFD simulations to evaluate heat distribution, flow behavior, and pressure drop, to create the right design before fabrication.
