On November 20, UPMC Pathways for Students hosted 1,000 high school students from more than 40 schools in the Pittsburgh region at its annual Career Education Event at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. This event gave high school juniors and seniors exposure to 60+ departments that comprise UPMC hospitals and UPMC Health Plan … featuring everything from clinical and nursing roles, to facilities management and construction, to office administration! Interactive displays allowed students to engage in hands-on activities such as intubation, taking tissue samples, administering IVs, and wound treatment. We thank Nancy A. Walker, PA Secretary of Labor & Industry, for taking the time to visit with our team and see everything in action. The level of enthusiasm and participation by all was truly inspiring! UPMC
