Sharing this powerful post from our CEO, Matthew Kirchner. It’s a reminder of what veterinary medicine really looks like. The joy, the heartbreak, the technical excellence, and the emotional weight our teams carry every single day. Across VetnCare, we’re committed to supporting the people who make this work possible. Not just through training and tools, but through presence, compassion, and community. Thank you to every team member who shows up wholeheartedly for pets and their families. You are the heart of who we are. #vetncare #insightveterinarywellnesscenter #elevatedcare
During Vet Tech Week, I had the chance to step into one of our hospitals and assist during a C-section on a rottweiler mom. My job was “puppy catcher.” It sounds joyful – and it was — but there was also some heartbreak. It was a difficult birth. Not all of the puppies made it. I watched our team move through that day with skill and care for the Mom and for her pet parents. It reminded me just how much this work asks of the people who do it. Not just technically, but emotionally. The stakes are real. The outcomes aren’t always perfect. And yet, they show up every day, fully present — ready to act, ready to comfort, ready to try again. We can’t expect people to carry that weight alone. If we want to build sustainable, healthy teams, we have to prioritize mental health just as much as performance. That means making space for grief as well as celebration. It means checking in — not just on results, but on how people are doing. How they are really doing. There’s a cost to caring this much. And it doesn’t always show up in charts or KPIs. It shows up in the quiet moments after a shift, or in the resilience it takes to do it all again tomorrow. If we want this profession to stay strong, we have to take care of the people who make it work — not just with policies, but with presence. That means showing up, listening, and creating space for the full emotional reality of this work. Not just the wins, but the losses and disappointments too. #VetnCare

September is Suicide Prevention Month. Across the veterinary profession, our teams face unique challenges every day: balancing the joy of caring for animals with the weight of difficult decisions, emotional strain, and the high standards of our calling. Heartbreakingly, the rates of suicide in veterinary medicine are among the highest of any profession. At VetnCare, we are committed to breaking the stigma around mental health and ensuring that no one feels they have to struggle in silence. We stand with organizations like Not One More Vet (NOMV), who provide crucial resources, education, and support to veterinary professionals worldwide. We also take seriously our responsibility to care for our own teams. Through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), every VetnCare team member has access to confidential counseling, mental health services, and support for themselves and their families. Suicide prevention starts with awareness, compassion, and connection. This month, and every month, we encourage our colleagues, pet parents, and community to check in with one another, sometimes the smallest conversation can make the biggest difference. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. You are not alone. 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

At VetnCare, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Each team member plays a vital role in caring for pets and supporting one another, and we’re proud to highlight the incredible individuals who make our hospitals thrive. A Day in the Life at VetnCare Chelsee – Lead RVT, Disney Pet Hospital Chelsee is an essential part of the Disney Pet Hospital team. With the support of Hospital Manager Rachel, she helps the day run smoothly by coordinating team responsibilities and ensuring everything stays on track. Her clinical expertise shines in COHAT procedures and dental surgeries, where she delivers exceptional care to patients. Outside of procedures, Chelsee is always ready to step in and support her teammates, demonstrating the collaboration and teamwork that make our hospitals thrive. Once the day winds down, Chelsee takes the time to prepare for tomorrow — ensuring the team is set up for success and that the hospital remains a clean, efficient, and welcoming space. Chelsee’s passion for animals drives her to advocate for patients every single day, bringing compassion and dedication to every interaction. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys photography and cherishes time with her family. 💙 We’re grateful to Chelsee for the way she shows up for her patients, teammates, and community — living our values in action each day. #vetncare #veterinarymedicine #rvt #dayinthelife

Happy International Dog Day! At VetnCare, every pet has a story — and today, we’re celebrating one of our own. Meet Kenya, a 12-year-old Whippet x Kelpie and the beloved dog of our Marketing Manager, Lindsay Rudder. Kenya’s life journey started in the Australian outback, but she’s been a constant companion ever since — even logging miles as a marathon training partner! Kenya is the kind of dog who wins over everyone (yes, even those who claim they “don’t like dogs”). Sweet, athletic, loyal, and obedient, she’s truly one of a kind. Like so many senior pets, Kenya lives with arthritis in her shoulder — a challenge she’s faced for years. Thanks to consistent veterinary care and proactive management, she’s still thriving and living life to the fullest. Today, on International Dog Day, we honor the bond between people and pets, and the incredible role veterinary medicine plays in keeping them happy, healthy, and by our side for as long as possible. Here’s to Kenya — and to all the pets who make our lives better every day. #vetncare #internationaldogday

August 22 is National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day — an important reminder for all of us in the veterinary field. While many cats share our homes, they don’t visit the vet nearly as often as dogs. Whether it’s due to stress, fear of the carrier, or the belief that indoor cats are “low risk,” feline patients are often underserved when it comes to preventative care. At VetnCare, we know that cats deserve just as much proactive healthcare — helping us catch issues early, manage chronic conditions, and support long, healthy lives. Let’s use this day to keep the conversation going — educating cat parents, sharing feline-friendly tips, and ensuring our hospitals are welcoming spaces for even the most skeptical whiskered patients. Here's to healthier, happier cats — today and every day.

We’re excited to introduce Michael Maline, who recently joined VetnCare as our Marketing Director. Michael brings more than 20 years of experience in brand storytelling, creative strategy, and marketing leadership. His career began in computer science before evolving into graphic design and ultimately marketing—a path that combined his strengths in both logic and creativity. Most recently, he led U.S. Marketing for a global premium eyewear brand, driving visibility and engagement with health professionals and the patients they serve. His passion for animals runs deep. From rescuing his first dog, Whistle, as a child, to volunteering at the Humane Society and living a vegan lifestyle, Michael has long been dedicated to improving the lives of animals and the people who love them. Joining VetnCare is a natural extension of that commitment, and he’s excited to share our promise of NEXT-LEVEL CARE, NEXT-DOOR with pet parents and communities. Please join us in welcoming Michael to the VetnCare family!

Big news from our Napa community! On Friday, August 15th, our teams from California Pet Hospital and Alley Cat & Dog Pet Hospital officially came together under one roof. It was all hands on deck as both teams rolled up their sleeves to move equipment, supplies, (and lots of boxes!) into the Alley Cat & Dog location. The day was filled with teamwork, laughter, and plenty of muscle power. We’re so proud of how smoothly the move went, and even more excited about the opportunities this brings: -> A stronger, united team -> A modernized hospital space for our patients -> Expanded services and support for our pet parents A huge thank you to everyone who made this move possible—you’ve truly shown what One Pack, One Purpose looks like in action. Here’s to the start of an exciting new chapter in Napa! #Teamwork #VeterinaryCare #OnePackOnePurpose #VetnCare
