Our mission, following the example of Christ, builds healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

About us

The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living, and for social responsibility. A strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. We believe that to bring about meaningful change in individuals and communities, we must be focused and accountable. At the Y, we measure the success of our cause by how well we engage communities in our three areas of impact. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Empowering young people to reach their full potential HEALTHY LIVING Improving individual and community well-being SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Providing support and inspiring action in our communities The Y is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life working side by side to strengthen communities. Together we work to ensure everyone—regardless of gender, income, faith, sexual orientation or cultural background—has the opportunity to live life to its fullest. We share the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility—everything we do stems from it. We know that the key to effectively nurturing the potential of children, improving the nation’s health and well-being and supporting our neighbors is a passionate, experienced and diverse array of staff, volunteers and members who value what everyone brings to the table.

  • This morning, the YMCA of Greenville hosted our annual 2025 Prayer Breakfast, a meaningful tradition held during Gratitude Week. Centered on the theme Love. Serve. Care., the event brought together community leaders, partners, and Y staff for a time of reflection, fellowship, and prayer. We are grateful to Pastor Blake Payne for delivering an inspiring keynote message and to HomeTrust Bank for generously sponsoring this year’s gathering. A special thank you to our YMCA Christian Mission Committee for their thoughtful planning and dedication to creating a space where our community can connect and grow in spirit! Events like these remind us of the power of shared purpose—and the strength we find when we come together.

  • We are honored that RECESS has been selected as a grant recipient of Dabo’s All In Team Foundation! We're proud to be part of a community that goes #AllIn for inclusion! RECESS is a YMCA of Greenville signature program for post-high school adults with diverse abilities. RECESS allows adults with diverse abilities not only a place to continue to learn new skills, but also gives them a place to connect with friends and gain a sense of belonging.

Through hands-on debate, collaboration, and legislative process, these young leaders are gaining more than civic knowledge — they’re learning how to shape change and serve with purpose. Isn't that what George Williams had in mind for young people almost 175 years ago? At the YMCA of Greenville, we are honored to lead a program that not only strengthens civic participation but also empowers youth to find their voice, their values, and their future pathways. Huge shout out to Mary Capers Bledsoe for her vision, passion and seemingly never ending energy!...to make this program what it is today. Which is AMAZING! South Carolina’s future is in good hands. #SCYIG #YMCAYouthInGovernment #ModelLegislature #CivicEngagement #LeadershipDevelopment #YMCAGreenville

The South Carolina Youth in Government Model Legislature & Court Conference led by South Carolina YMCA Youth In Government and the YMCA of Greenville is taking place this week in Columbia, bringing together more than 1,400 high school students from across the state for an immersive, hands-on experience in democracy. Throughout the conference, students take on roles as senators, representatives, judges, lobbyists, and media members — debating real issues, drafting legislation, and learning how to create positive change in their communities. We’re incredibly proud of these emerging leaders and their commitment to civic engagement, collaboration, and service. The future of leadership in South Carolina is bright! #SCYIG #YMCAYouthInGovernment #ModelLegislature #CivicEngagement #LeadershipDevelopment #YMCAGreenville

  • We’re proud to share that the YMCA of Greenville has again earned Praesidium Accreditation®, the highest recognition for child abuse prevention from Praesidium, the national leader in abuse risk management. This achievement reflects our continued deep commitment to creating the safest possible environment for children and families. Through a rigorous review process, our team strengthened systems, enhanced safeguards, and reinforced a culture of accountability and trust. “Praesidium’s mission to prevent abuse and create safe environments is at the heart of what we do,” said John Schlansker , Vice President of Facilities and Risk Management. “I’m proud to be part of a process that helps organizations grow, close gaps, and stay focused on what matters most.” We’re honored to remain among a select group of YMCAs nationwide leading the way in youth protection and organizational safety. #PraesidiumAccreditation #AbusePrevention #ChildSafety #CultureOfSafety #YMCAofGreenville #Leadership #YMCAStrong

  • 💪🏈 115 girls. Countless opportunities. One unforgettable rainy day. Yesterday's Girls Flag Football Clinic was about more than just the game—it was about growing the sport and opening doors for the next generation of female athletes. And the rain only made it more epic. 🌧️⚡ Led by NFL alumni Patrick Sapp and Super Bowl XXXV Champion James Trapp, the clinic gave participants hands-on coaching and inspiration for the future of the sport. A special thank-you to Chris Colvin, Commissioner of Conference Carolinas, and Darryl Nance, Director of Athletics for Greenville County Schools, for joining us and supporting the growth of girls’ flag football in our schools and communities. 💛 With flag football being the fastest-growing sport in the country—and making its debut in the upcoming Olympics—these girls are part of something big. And this rainy clinic? Just the beginning. #GirlsFlagFootball #YMCA #GrowTheGame #GreenvilleSC
