Advocates for incarcerated mothers and their children by providing pro-bono family law services to keep families connected, with emphasis on children’s care and welfare.

CLAIM provides basic information on family law to assist more women than can be served in one-on-one sessions. Mothers are guided on such topics as:

CLAIM provides basic information on family law to assist more women than can be served in one-on-one sessions. Mothers are guided on such topics as:

    Placement issues
    Short-term and court-ordered guardianship
    The foster care system
    Termination of parental rights
    Domestic relations law
The “best interest of the child” standard.

We also provide practical tips and advice that empower the women to be their own advocates and to work through the legal system. We distribute Parental Rights and Responsibilities to everyone who attends CLAIM classes.

In July 2014 CLAIM became a program of the Cabrini Green Legal Aid (CGLA) maintaining and growing its mission.

The Gannon Center is a creative venture at Loyola University Chicago that highlights past and present women leaders' histories, gifts, and stories. In 1993, the center began as the idea of a group of Loyola's women leaders, who saw an opportunity to extend the heritage of the classic Mundelein College—the last women's college in Illinois before it joined Loyola in June 1991—and enrich Loyola's offerings by building a program that focuses on women's concerns in an academic setting.

The Center is named in honor of Ann Ida Gannon, BVM, who was the President of Mundelein College from 1957–1975 and continues to be a vital presence in the Center.

The Gannon Center began full-time operation in 1997. Today, it represents a thriving set of programs and annual events that celebrate, encourage, support, and grow the leadership potential of women undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and community members.

The Gannon Center's activities include the Gannon Scholars Program, the Women's Leadership Archives (WLA) focusing on the women leaders, fellowships for Loyola faculty, space and resources for visiting scholars, mentoring programs for undergraduate women students, and summer research grants for graduate students. The Center sponsors numerous other programs that promote and preserve the achievements of women. This diverse array of programming was made possible by the loyalty of Mundelein alumnae and friends, whose generous gifts established the Center's endowment fund.

Gabrielle Buckley, JD, is the Director of the Gannon Center and member of the Mundelein College Alumnae & Gannon Scholar Association at Loyola University.

Honors & Awards

  • Upsilon Sigma Public Service Award

Randy Crumpton Attorney & Upsilon Sigma Board Member

At the 56th Annual Crescent Moon Awards I was honored with the very 1st Randy Crumpton Service Award. Randy was my election attorney who passed this year in January at age 53 following a long cancer battle. I had no idea he nominated me for the Upsilon Sigma Public Service Award which they renamed in his honor. Randy was a great legal mind in election law and entertainment who connected film, music and political communities, particularly for the African-American community.
