In 2007, United Way had realized that its antiquated IT infrastructure was in need of a complete overhaul. The existing Novell Netware network had run its course and the company was working through issues with the Novell GroupWise email system as well. There were issues with tape backup, and no support for mobile devices. The networking infrastructure resembled spaghetti, making network troubleshooting cumbersome and tedious. The organization has a small IT department that realized they needed to establish a relationship with an external company that could provide IT migration support and advice as IT needs grew.

    Enter Intelligent Technical Solutions

ITS started providing IT support to United Way in 2007. ITS architected, migrated, and supported the move away from the legacy Novell network to a Windows 2008-based server and messaging infrastructure, bringing United Way to current technology that improved employee productivity, network security, and improved performance. In late 2023, United Way decided to leverage cloud technologies found in Azure Cloud to consolidate server infrastructure. United Way wanted to lower power consumption, improve utilization, and leverage the latest cloud technologies available in Azure to provide optimal availability and scalability. The Results
ITS has assisted United Way with a variety of projects where specialized knowledge was needed, such as email messaging server upgrades, as well as network enhancements. In addition, ITS helped United Way consolidated server infrastructure through cloud technologies, which has helped to cut hardware, cooling and energy costs.
ITS helped United Way move to a new location and completely redo the networking infrastructure, enabling hoteling and flexible work options for their mobile and in-person teams. United Way and ITS have now successfully partnered for more than 20 years.

San Leandro Ford, a leading Northern California auto dealership founded in 1991, contacted Intivix to help architect the corporate network, PC, and Internet infrastructure for their transition to Internet-based computing. San Leandro Ford realized early on that the Internet emergence had dramatically changed the way companies run their operations and wanted to make a strategic move to leverage this shift.
For several years, San Leandro Ford had been using a mainframe/terminal network architecture maintained by a large Dealer Management System vendor. In order to enable Internet connectivity to the desktop, while retaining connectivity to the mainframe, a major architectural redesign was needed.
Following Intivix’s recommendations, San Leandro Ford purchased needed equipment, including new desktops, Windows servers, and E-mail messaging server. Intivix engineers methodically configured and installed the new equipment, and created comprehensive documentation for the end users.
For security and disaster recovery, Intivix installed a stateful inspection firewall, centralized Antivirus software, and backup software. Intivix also integrated and centralized several third party automotive applications, easing the sharing of critical inventory and pricing information among multiple users.
San Leandro Ford employees are able to seamlessly access information on the Dealer Management System mainframe while reaping the benefits of an Internet-connected, networked client/server Windows infrastructure. Intivix worked closely with the Dealer Management System vendor to ensure a smooth integration process.
