Founded in 1850, the Western Dominican Province (Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus) is comprised of the Western U.S. States and is a province of the world-wide Order of Preachers (Dominicans). The province supports ~140 Dominican friars in their mission to preach the Gospel for the salvation of souls, while recruiting and training new friars for lives in the Order. As the province continues to grow, additional staff are needed to support the friars and their apostolates.
Description
The Major Gift Officer (MGO) is a frontline fundraising professional dedicated to building and sustaining meaningful relationships with donors. The MGO will manage a dedicated portfolio and work toward specific annual benchmarks to ensure the continued growth of the Province’s mission and work.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Portfolio Management & Moves Management
• Manage a portfolio of approximately 120 qualified individuals.
• Execute a consistent "moves management" plan, ensuring each donor receives at least one mass contact/touch per month, such as newsletters, spiritual reflections, or friar highlights.
• Maintain a high volume of individual outreach, aiming for 30–40 personal calls or emails per week.
Donor Engagement & Solicitation
• Conduct 10–12 personal visits per month (120+ annually), with a strong emphasis on face-to-face meetings.
• Execute 4-6 formal solicitations or proposals per month (50-70 annually).
• Coordinate spiritual outreach to donors by engaging with the friars to send blessings or notes.
Data Integrity & Mission Alignment
• Record all donor interactions, tasks, and moves in the CRM at the end of each week to ensure accurate tracking against metrics.
• Actively participate in special campaigns and events.
• Promote joyful giving as a direct response to divine generosity.
Essential Qualifications
• Deep desire to use God-given talents in service to others.
• Strong affinity and familiarity with the Order of Preachers, specifically the Western Dominican Province
• Familiarity with the Catholic Church's morals and values.
• 2-5 years of experience in professional advancement or a related field with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and close major gifts.
• Excellent social intelligence and relationship building skills.
• High degree of comfort using the internet and CRM databases.
• Bias for action with the ability to take initiative and work independently in a remote environment.
