A Brief Overview

As a frontline fundraiser, the Director of Strategic Events oversees the development and implementation of philanthropic events and programs to inspire donors to support excellence, innovation and education throughout Holy Name's health system. Strategic Events include but are not limited to the planning and oversight of Holy Name's signature fundraising events, stewardship events or critical meetings for our Centers of Excellence; such as the MS Center. The Senior Director maintains close and collaborative working relationships with key hospital leadership, foundation leadership, department administrators, board members and event committee members to ensure philanthropic objectives are advanced and fundraising goals are accomplished. The individual must identify opportunities to advance donor relationships and fundraising initiatives as well as strategize ways to maximize event participation and generate revenue.

What You Will Do

  • Plans, executes, and ensures achievement of established annual goals for all fundraising events and advances cultivation and solicitation activities of the fundraising team
  • Creates multi-channel special event solicitations through traditional vehicles, such as face to face visits, direct mail and email solicitations; while infusing modern, segmented, and creative tactics to foster relationships yielding repeat donors and year-over-year revenue growth
  • Executes approved plans to expand and diversify the donors and participants for the events in order to broaden our donor base and create events that are welcoming and inclusive
  • Identifies and collaborates with the Philanthropy Communications Manager on grateful patient and family stories to support the need for funds, to prepare brand appropriate materials to market the event, and to further build a culture of philanthropy.
  • Works cross functionally with other essential units such as Information Technology to develop all necessary marketing materials and ensure efficient and effective list management and solicitation outreach
  • Develops a working knowledge of fundraising databases and other management information and tracking systems to effectively register and communicate with guests, update and report progress toward goals; produce a well-managed event and update and report progress toward goals
  • Works with consultants, honorees and committees to identify and solicit support, gifts-in-kind, entertainment, etc.; manage or arrange for all audio visual and tech needs for the events; negotiates needed contracts for approvals; and ensures adherence to all terms, including insurance and legal requirements of the hospital and venue
  • Analyzes results of the special events by tracking progress from year to year, years of consecutive participation, increased giving, LYBNT and SYBNT donors/participants and performance of various aspects of the event
  • Generates reports and statistics for VP and Board Meetings, creates event wrap up reports, budget reconciliation, records and tracks all receivables, prepares creative acknowledgements, archives written documentation for various events and programs.
  • Engages senior-level administrators and Board Members in executing the required cultivation, solicitation and stewardship prior to, day of and post events
  • Proactively supports development officers in design and execution of annual and multi-year solicitation and stewardship plans for donors and top prospects as requested.
  • Manages a portfolio of prospects for sponsorship opportunities and specific donors to Centers of Excellence related to the special event
  • Cultivates donor relationships by updating, stewarding, and asking donors to deepen their financial partnership with Holy Name
  • Contributes as a leader of the Foundation team and supports other development officers in soliciting and closing gifts from leadership level giving donors.
  • Executes strategies to effectively educate donors about programs and projects as well as communicates Holy Name’s mission
  • Researches, identifies, and promotes hand-off of high-capacity donors to the appropriate major gift officer or planned giving officer
  • Performs other duties as assigned to achieve all Holy Name Foundation goals including: supporting special needs for various meetings and programs and assisting with the Foundation’s role with ambassador services
  • Travel to and attendance at events during evenings and weekends is required. Some light lifting for set-up and implementation of programs / events is also required

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree BA/BS required or substitute by 10 or more years of professional not-for-profit experience Required

Experience Qualifications

  • 10+ years 10 or more years of professional not-for-profit experience Required and
  • 10+ years Seven to ten years’ experience in fundraising management in overseeing large scale events, preferably in a hospital or health-care setting, with demonstrated fundraising success Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • The individual must be detail oriented with both excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills with the ability to set timelines and meet deadlines;
  • ability to multitask in stressful situations; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • demonstrated ability to work well with Board Members, volunteers, vendors and donors of all levels

Pay Range: $145,600.00 - $182,000.00
