Globalisation: Dead or On Hold? What APAC Tells Us 🌏 Honoured to join the PRCA APAC Corporate Affairs Forum 2025 both as a panellist on "Hotspots, Growth Sectors & Business Voices: The Rise of Industry Representative Bodies in Asia" and as emcee for this year’s PublicAffairsAsia’s Gold Standard Awards, celebrating excellence within our industry. 🔍 Globalisation isn’t dead, it’s rearranging: Minister Yam Keng Baey, Minister of State at the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth, remarked that "today's long-term planning feels less like a strategy and more like an educated guess," and I agree entirely. Across Asia, we’re seeing a shift from borderless globalism to “regional resilience”, where #supplychains #capital and #partnerships are reconfiguring around #trust and #sharedpurpose. Industry bodies are emerging as strategic partners, not just lobbyists, helping businesses navigate uncertainty, build credibility, and co-create frameworks for sustainable growth. 🚀 Where momentum persists: 1. Healthcare and MedTech: Ecosystems that speak in one voice move policy and innovation faster. 2. AI and Digitalisation: Cross-border cooperation on data and ethics will define leadership. 3. Sustainability and Impact sectors: Purpose-driven organisations are now investment magnets. 💬 What stood out: In an age of fragmentation and complexity, associations can bridge divides, protect trust, and accelerate innovation where no single actor can. As professionals in Public Affairs and Communications, we must actively engage with our stakeholders. This engagement directly informs our organisational strategy, equips leaders with vital insights, clearly conveys the company’s position, and fosters collaborations in-service of our stakeholders that enhance influence. It is critical to understand that the responsibility for the company’s position and reputation cannot be outsourced. As we rethink what “global” means, collaboration, not competition, will be Asia’s differentiator. 🙏Thank You: 👏 Ed Burleigh, Jeremy Seow, Yang Teo, PRCA APAC and PublicAffairsAsia for convening a powerful dialogue on the future of globalisation and the evolving role of corporate affairs. 👏 Steven Okun APAC Advisors (Singapore) for setting the right tone to both close the Corporate Affairs Forum and open the Gold Standard Awards, connecting two moments that perfectly captured the spirit of the day: realism over rhetoric, and excellence with purpose. 👏Our moderator, Cody Roberts, Managing Partner & Founder of Genesis Partners, and my insightful co-panellists, Mark Domitrak (CT Group) and Andrew Staples, PhD. (GeoPol Asia) for an energising, intelligent discussion. 👏All fellow speakers and attendees for the rich exchange of ideas. If you were at either event, what was your biggest insight? Let's keep the conversation going! #CorporateAffairs #Globalisation #APACLeadership #IndustryBodies #ReputationStrategy #MedTech #ESG #GoldStandardAwards
