Ed Burleigh’s Post

And breathe… It’s been a week since wrapping up my PRCA APAC contract and I’ve finally had time to decompress – literally, as I’m on a dive holiday in Bali right now 🤿 It’s been a huge year and I’m proud of what we delivered across events, webinars, training, research, ethics and more. Challenging at times, but definitely rewarding – I hope I played a small part in raising standards across the region. A few thank yous: • To Tara M. for trusting me to steady the ship while you were on mat leave. • To Melissa Cannon, Sarah Waddington and the whole PRCA team for the support. • To Jeremy Seow, Emma Smith and the APAC board for being so active and engaged. • To the many members, partners and stakeholders I’ve met along the way too numerous to tag! • And to my wife Sabrina Andrea for putting up with my chaos!🌪️ This past week has been a reflective one as I pushed through my Rescue Diver certification (not quite the chilled holiday I had in mind). Somewhere between performing CPR on “Timmy” and towing an unresponsive diver to the shore I finally admitted to myself that I had willingly worked a bit too hard this year. Next year I’m planning to stay neutrally buoyant and rethink my priorities. So, what’s next? I’m toying with the idea of a serious pivot in my career: become a dive instructor and open a little dive shop somewhere blue. Maybe one day! 🐠🐙🦈 The immediate plan is to focus on my health and wellbeing, learn new skills and explore a few passion projects (travel, sustainability, food, music, film) maybe even convert them to business ventures – if you're keen to collaborate, let’s talk! And yes, I’m continuing to grow Reverb Marketing so if you know anyone looking for marketing or communications support please feel free to connect us 🙏 I’ll leave you with the best advice I heard this week: "Make bubbles not troubles".

It was great engaging with you, Ed, albeit briefly. Enjoy the break, and congratulations on earning your rescue diver certification. When I did mine, they waited until we’d finished a full day of diving, handed me a beer, closed my tank, hid my mask, and then called me up for the search and rescue drill. I hope your experience was a little smoother, though I doubt it was!
