Space safety and U.S. leadership: insights from House Aerospace Caucus

We had a great discussion yesterday with the House Aerospace Caucus on space safety and how U.S. companies have adopted best practices to prevent collisions in space. Some of my takeaways were: 🚀 Space safety depends on open lines of communications and data sharing across governments and among operators along. The goal should be to develop a Common Operating Picture that all operators can leverage. 🚀 U.S. companies have designed in many safety features on their satellites (i.e. shielding, maneuverability, orbit selection) and they continue to invest heavily in developing new innovative technologies to prevent incidents. 🚀 We need government to invest similarly in maintaining U.S. leadership on space safety. Implementing Space Policy Directive 3 and coalition building at the international level to encourage more transparency among operators, especially Chinese operators, are important. 🚀 Industry is deriving a lot of value from Office of Space Commerce's TRACCs program today. The USG should continue implementing and resourcing the program to contribute to that needed Common Operating Picture. Thank you Amber Charlesworth Kara Leibin Azocar and Jeff O'Neil for the insights on your company’s approaches to space safety and Congressman Ron Estes and Congressman Salud Carbajal Katie Gallagher and the House Aerospace Caucus for hosting the conversation!

Great messaging and insights for the Hill on a vital topic. It was gratifying to hear industry independently endorse the Office of Space Commerce and its priorities!

Thanks for organizing this great panel, John!
