💼 Product Management Across Indian Cities — An Unfiltered Observation 😄 After 10+ years of being a Product Manager across Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, and now Mumbai, I’ve realized one thing — the role stays the same, but the vibe doesn’t. Here’s my totally unbiased take 👇 🚀 Bangalore: Everyone’s building a startup — even your Uber driver has an MVP in stealth mode. Meetings start with “Let’s brainstorm” and end with a Figma link. 💻 Hyderabad: Super structured. Jira boards are cleaner than my kitchen. And yes, people actually read PRDs. Absolute legends. 🏢 Gurgaon: Slides > Product. If it’s not in a deck, it doesn’t exist. Also, 90% of “quick syncs” end in buffet lunch plans. 🌊 Mumbai: Hustle + Humidity = true product-market fit test. People ship features faster than the local train schedule. After seeing it all, one truth remains — Good PMs adapt like chameleons. Great PMs laugh while doing it. Now I’m curious — 👉 Which city do you think has the most unique work culture? 👇 Drop your experience (funny ones welcome). Let’s make this a thread worth bookmarking! #ProductManagement #TechCulture #WorkLife #India #PMHumor #Leadership
I don’t believe it’s about cities… It’s about people… You’re team leads were different in all pf your experiences.. Jira boards, Faster MVPs and brainstorming sessions were a reflection of their leadership.
That's interesting to know! I work with a distributed team in Remote setup and I’m based out of Mumbai. It’s fascinating to see how each city’s culture reflects in our work styles and we try to create a blend that brings out the best of everyone’s strengths. 😀
The follow up questions 1) which city pays better. ? 2) Which city needs more PM’s
I think its a blend of all these characteristics that we face in every city. And Product Managers are at the centre of all of it. We adapt to each of these ways of working seamlessly to build a product that genuinely creates value. PS - I am from Bangalore but i havent met an uber driver working on Figma yet 😄
The last line👌Adapt / Laugh and what shocks me the most HYD read PRDs
Love it " Good PMs adapt like chameleons. Great PMs laugh while doing it." 😎
Im aspiring to become a product manager while trying to switch domains, I would be happy to get some insights. I'm a fresher in this domain. happy to know about open opportunities.
What about Pune. You missed it. Udayan M Or PM there still trying
Haha love this take! 😄 Gotta give a special shoutout to Noida too — where I’ve worked with 2 companies and seen surprisingly chill work vibes. Supportive teams, No over-engineering, and the magical thing called 6 PM log-off .✨
