Aviation momentum, Smart building tech, and more!
Happy Thursday, and welcome to this week’s LinkedIn newsletter!
This week: UK air traffic climbed in September, reflecting continued momentum in the aviation sector. Smart buildings are taking centre stage as IoT-based technologies transform energy efficiency and building management. EV charging helped power Luceco’s strong third-quarter growth, highlighting the company’s expanding role in the electrification market. Meanwhile, Renishaw’s additive manufacturing systems have been integrated into Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, advancing collaboration and innovation in digital manufacturing.

UK air traffic rises in September
UK air traffic in September increased by 2.4% on the same month last year - amid strong transatlantic growth - as the UK’s major provider of air traffic services, NATS, safely handled 236,403 flights, averaging 7,880 flights a day. The market segment with biggest year-on-year growth was transatlantic overflights, which increased by 10.6%, with particular growth in flights using UK airspace to fly between Italy and the United States, Belgium and the United States, and Canada and the Netherlands. Domestic UK flights, however, dropped by 6.2%.
Smart Buildings with IoT-Based Technology
The management of smart buildings can benefit greatly from IoT-enhanced systems, but their implementation can be challenging. In answer, Axiomtek, manufacturer of industrial computers and embedded platforms, has introduced a suite of advanced IoT gateways. Rapid urbanisation and the urgent need for greater energy efficiency are accelerating the adoption of smart building technologies. By leveraging IoT-driven systems, smart buildings enable real-time control and automation of critical functions such as HVAC, lighting and security, delivering significant improvements in energy performance, operational efficiency and occupant comfort.
EV charging powers third quarter growth for Luceco
Luceco, a leading manufacturer of electrification products and systems, has reported strong performance in the third quarter, with double digit growth driven by continued electric vehicle (EV) charger momentum. In a trading update for the three months to 30 September, the company said that with the revenue growth achieved to date, combined with a strong order book for the final quarter, it expects full year profitability to be towards the upper end of market expectations. The Telford-headquartered company reported a third sequential quarter of growth as revenue for the third quarter was up 19.5%, with EV charging products continuing to be a key driver.
Renishaw’s AM systems integrated into Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE
Renishaw’s full range of RenAM 500 series of metal additive manufacturing (AM) systems and TEMPUS technology are now integrated into the 3DEXPERIENCE virtual machine from Dassault Systèmes. Users of the 3DEXPERIENCE DELMIA Powder Bed Machine Programmer Role can now set-up, programme and analyse additive manufacturing processes for Renishaw AM systems. “A virtual machine is an exact representation of a machine in the virtual world, with all its parameters. You can launch a production run and make virtual parts; it’s unique in terms of quality validation,” said Jérémy Mosse, Team & Application Manager at Dassault Systèmes.
AE Talks: Does a performance-branded EV still deliver excitement?…
In the latest episode of #AETalks, Jeremy Whittingham sits down with Paolo Bargiacchi, Director of Electrification at the newly rebranded Motion Applied (formerly McLaren Applied).
They discuss the company’s evolution and the unique challenges of ensuring electric platforms live up to the renowned customer experiences that performance brands are known for.
