Women's History Month Q&A: Sheila Swaroop

Women's History Month Q&A: Sheila Swaroop

Who is a woman, past or present, that has inspired you in your life and career?

I have been inspired by my mom, Dr. Venzila Swaroop, a pediatrician who immigrated from India in the 1960s to become a well-respected clinician and medical director in Southern California. As her three children and seven grandchildren all know, she is a force to be reckoned with! She has shown me the value of hard work, the ways to navigate barriers to get things done, and the importance of celebrating personal and professional moments.

If you hold a leadership role at the firm, what does being a woman leader mean to you?

For the past several years, I have chaired Knobbe Martens’ Litigation Group. I am very proud of our litigators and the successes we have accomplished for our clients. An effective leader is one who uses her skills and experience to support and advocate for others, and that is what I strive to do.

What advice would you give to younger women looking to grow in their careers?

My advice is to build and cultivate personal and professional networks that you can draw on for advice, mentorship, and support.
