On October 16, 2025, HBA and Bristol Myers Squibb’s B-NOW group hosted a powerful event uniting healthcare professionals, advocates, and researchers to spotlight Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Minakshi Mistry, Patient Access Operations Manager at BMS, shared her moving journey as a caregiver for her husband Ashwin, emphasizing the importance of self-care, community, and early planning. Her words “AD is a journey, not a sprint” resonated deeply. Expert panelists, moderated by Anjali Bharadwaj (BMS), included Grigor Abelian (BMS), Jin Zhou (Eisai), Joshua Miller (Rutgers), and Mistry herself. They explored breakthroughs in detection, treatment, and prevention: • AD is now seen as a continuum with identifiable biomarkers, enabling earlier intervention. • Up to 45% of cases may be preventable by addressing modifiable risk factors like diet, exercise, and social engagement. • Innovations like CT imaging, blood-based biomarkers, and FDA-approved therapies offer new hope. • Caregivers need robust support systems to avoid burnout. • Early conversations and planning empower families and honor patient wishes. The event underscored that community, courage, and education are key to transforming Alzheimer’s care. Stay connected with HBA to keep the momentum going. A huge “Thank You” to: • Caregiver Journey Speaker: Mina Mistry • Moderator: Anjali B. • Panelists: Joshua W.
