🌍 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗕𝟮𝟬 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 4 September 2025 marked a pivotal milestone in the 𝗕𝟮𝟬 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 process, as business leaders officially gathered in Sandton, Johannesburg to present the B20 recommendations to the G20 South Africa Presidency. The Business 20 (B20) is the official G20 dialogue forum with the global business community. As one of the most influential G20 Engagement Groups, it brings together business leaders from G20 member countries and beyond to shape global economic priorities. B20 Sherpa Cas Coovadia opened the event, highlighting the collective work of the eight Task Forces. He shared “Our region boasts some of the world’s fastest-growing economies, a demographic dividend with youth constituting the majority of our population, and the raw materials to power a green industrial revolution.” ENGIE was honoured to contribute to this historic process as a member of the 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝘅 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲, chaired by Daniel Mminele, Chairman, Nedbank Group Ltd and co-chaired by Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, Chairman, ENGIE Group. In the final Task Force paper, Jean-Pierre Clamadieu emphasised “Achieving net-zero emissions is more than ever necessary as the effects of climate change intensify worldwide. We must use all available methods at our disposal to transition to sustainable energy: from enhanced global collaboration that supports the development of renewable power sources, gases, grids, energy efficiency, and flexible solutions, to new regulatory frameworks with appropriate policies and financing models.” The Task Force’s recommendations underscore the need for a fair and inclusive global energy transition, with priorities including: ⚡ Scaling transition finance ⚡ Localising clean energy manufacturing ⚡ Building skills for future energy jobs ⚡ Investing in resilient grids and infrastructure The final B20 Papers were officially presented by B20 Co-Chair Mxolisi Mgojo and received on behalf of the G20 South Africa Presidency by Honourable Minister Ronald Ozzy Lamola.
