We #flashback this Friday to November, when the Small Projects Foundation (SPF), in partnership with the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), hosted the Global Entrepreneurship Business Seminar, a half-day programme designed to equip micro-enterprises and emerging entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools to grow and thrive. Facilitated by Mr Mpumi Fundam, participants heard from experts representing ECDC, NYDA, BCMM LED, Capitec, MMX Foundation, and SARS, learning about business formalisation, regulatory compliance, and accessing financial and institutional support. A highlight was Babalwa Hopa from MMX Foundation, who reminded attendees that passion and determination are the first steps to growing any business, no matter its size. Three programme beneficiaries also shared how SPF’s Small Enterprise Development Programme has helped them access funding, guidance, and opportunities to scale. The seminar ended with a Q&A and networking session, allowing participants to connect with potential partners and collaborators. At SPF, we believe that supporting micro-enterprises in rural and peri-urban communities is key to building a stronger, more inclusive economy. Are you an emerging entrepreneur ready to grow your business? Reach out to us on 060 146 4544, today!

The UMBONO Eyecare programme was established to focus on children’s eye health through our school-based vision screening initiative. We work directly with schools to screen learners, provide free prescription spectacles, as well as awareness information sessions to educate parents and teachers about the early signs of eye conditions. The programme has reached 90 schools for screening in the last nine months and has screened 14089 learners with a total of 1351 spectacles donated by Eye Care for Kids. One of the beneficiaries is Sitho Nkohla, a grade 8 learner at Sophathisana High School, who recently received spectacles and has been talking with enthusiasm and admiration of his new spectacles to all those close to him. #Eyecare #visioncare #Umbono

EQUIPPING THE YOUTH WITH FINANCIAL LITERACY Small Projects Foundation has recently coordinated various financial literacy training sessions in areas such as Gonubie, Needs Camp, and Ncera Villages, in partnership with the Zizi Institute and Momentum. The training was based on Consumer Financial Education for people between the ages of 18-35, focusing on how to save, spend money, investments, and managing debt over a five-module training. "This training is not just for personal finance but can even assist those aspiring to be entrepreneurs by equipping them on the types of savings and investments available and suitable for businesses," said Sisanda Ngele, who is one of the facilitators from Zizi Institute. Abulele Skam from Needs Camp-Phumlani said that "I recently got my first job and this training is teaching me how to manage my personal finances, how to budget and manage additional expenses that often lead to exceeding one's budget." Another trainee from Empitshi village, Luzuko Macingwana, highlighted that "for me the training has exposed how we spend money on wants (luxury items) instead of focusing on the needs." While Litha'lethu Kilani from Gqala in Tsholomnqa eagerly shared that "my highlight of the training was learning about the importance of an emergency fund, and I will be implementing the savings strategies I got from this training," she said #financialliteracy #Equippingyouthwithfinancialskills
