🚧 August Project Update 🚧 🚦 Construction has begun at the busy Raglan Avenue, Edward Street, and South Road intersection. A new link road will remove the ‘dog-leg’ traffic movement between Edward Street and Raglan Avenue, improving flow and safety. 🚧 With over 60% of the diaphragm wall (D-wall) construction now complete, the Southern Precinct is gearing up for the next big construction milestone, the excavation of the launch box. 🟥 The bentonite plant at the Central North Construction Precinct is now fully operational, supporting D-wall construction on site. 🏗️ Members of the T2D Alliance took to the stage at the Crane Industry Council of Australia breakfast in Adelaide, showcasing our ongoing collaboration and industry leadership. #MonthlyUpdate #August #Progress #T2DProject #NonStopSouthRoad
Torrens to Darlington Project
Government Administration
The 10.5km Torrens to Darlington Project is the final piece of South Australia's North-South Corridor.
About us
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project is the final 10.5km section of South Australia’s North-South Corridor, and is the most significant infrastructure road project ever undertaken in South Australia. The upgrade will reduce travel time by up to 20 minutes and allow motorists to bypass 21 sets of traffic lights between the River Torrens and Darlington. The new T2D motorway will unlock 78km of non-stop traffic-light-free travel between Gawler and Old Noarlunga, with links to the port and airport precinct. The T2D Project will stimulate economic activity, supporting up to 4,900 new jobs and help ensure people, produce and products arrive where they need to be safer and sooner. 🏗️ As diaphragm wall (D-wall) construction moves ahead at our project sites, we’re taking a closer look at how these massive underground structures are built. Watch the video to learn more about how D-walls support the construction of a TBM launch box. #EngineeringExplained #TBM #UndergroundConstruction #DiaphragmWall #Infrastructure #ConstructionUpdate

These striking red silos at the Central North Construction Precinct store bentonite slurry, a key ingredient in the tunnelling process. 🟥👷♂️💧 Bentonite might be out of sight, but it plays an important role in keeping deep excavation stable and supports the construction of diaphragm walls. So, what is bentonite? Let’s take a closer look 👇 #T2DProject #Bentonite #Tunnelling #EngineeringExplained #Infrastructure

We’re making great progress in the Southern Construction Precinct, with works now underway on the access ramp for the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs). More than 50% of the diaphragm walls have now been completed marking an important milestone as we prepare to excavate the launch site where the TBMs will be assembled and launched. 👷♂️🔧 Stefan Sorani, Construction Manager at Southern Precinct, shares the latest on what's happening on site. #T2DProject #Infrastructure #ConstructionUpdate #TunnelBoringMachine #OnTheGround #DWalls

Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) are powered by electricity. To keep them working continuously 24 hours a day, we built the Tonsley East Substation at the Southern Precinct. A similar substation will soon be built in the Richmond area to support the Northern Tunnels. These substations are more than just construction support. Once the tunnels are complete, they'll provide power to operate the tunnels when open to traffic.⚡ Have more questions for us? Over the weekend, crews from the Tram Grade Separation Projects (TGSP) safely removed the old South Road tram overpass to make way for the lowered motorway section of the T2D Project. A major milestone for both the TGSP and T2D Project, the new overpass will be a key part of delivering a non-stop South Road. #T2DProject #NonStopSouthRoad
The weekend marked an important milestone for the Tram Grade Separation Projects - the safe removal of the old South Road tram overpass. The removal required the closure of South Road in both directions near the bridge. Thank you to the crews who worked around the clock to complete the task safely and efficiently. The new overpass will have longer spans to accommodate the lowered motorway of the Torrens to Darlington Project, which will create a non-stop South Road. Work is also continuing to build new tram overpasses to replace level crossings at Marion Road, Cross Road and Morphett Road, to improve safety and reliability for all tram and road users. 🚗✨ The T2D Project is the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, and will complete 78km of non-stop, traffic light-free motorway between Gawler and Old Noarlunga. What does that mean for you? Easier, smoother travel between some of South Australia’s top tourism spots. So, you can spend more time exploring, and less time stuck in traffic.🌿🏖️ #SouthAustralia #T2DProject #NonStopSouthRoad #Tourism

We’ve hit big milestones in July! ✅ Works at the Central North Construction Precinct are officially underway. It is the second purpose-built site to support the launch of the third Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) to build the Northern Tunnels. 🏗️ Since its launch, the precinct is already buzzing with activity, with the construction of a bentonite plant now complete. Next step: construction of diaphragm walls (or D-walls) to support the launch box. 🤝 A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by at this year’s Meet the Buyer event. We’re excited to partner with South Australian businesses on this once-in-a-generation infrastructure project. 🛣️ Plus, we’ve improved connectivity at York Avenue, Clovelly Park to support better access around the Southern Precinct and benefit the local community. #T2DProject #NonStopSouthRoad #JulyUpdate #LocalBusiness

Big preparations underway before tunnelling kicks off 🏗️ At the Central North Construction Precinct in Richmond, we've built a massive bentonite plant. This plant will produce and recycle bentonite slurry, a special wet clay used to keep the ground stable during construction. We've installed nine 14m tall silos, which are capable of holding 90,000 litres of bentonite slurry each. #T2DProject #NonStopSouthRoad #BentoniteSlurry #BentoniteSilos #EngineeringInAction
