🇪🇺🤝 Strengthening Hungary’s innovation future Today in Budapest, the EIT and the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation renewed their cooperation through a new Memorandum of Understanding —marking a major step forward in supporting Hungary’s most promising innovators. With the signature, Hungary officially joins the EIT Regional Innovation Booster (EIT RIB) pilot from 2026, gaining access to targeted support for startups and scaleups with high innovation potential. Through the EIT RIB model, Hungarian ventures will benefit from: 🔹 Tailored growth and internationalisation support 🔹 Access to Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem 🔹 Stronger links between national programmes and the EIT Community 🔹 New pathways to investment, markets, and collaboration 🗣️ Martin Kern, EIT Director, highlighted the significance: “This initiative will identify startups in Hungary with high innovation potential. These ventures will then be supported jointly by both national programmes and the EIT Community, in order to accelerate their growth and to deliver concrete solutions to citizens. 🔎 What’s missing from Europe’s innovation policy? In a thought-provoking new op-ed published in Science|Business, our EIT Governing Board Chairperson Stefan Dobrev argues that what Europe really needs is stronger private-sector engagement. Despite excellent research and robust public funding, the gap between ideas and market success remains wide. Today in Paris, we officially opened our newest EIT Community Hub dedicated to the French Outermost Regions —strengthening innovation opportunities for Saint-Martin, Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Réunion and Mayotte. Hosted at Station F during the 10th edition of 'Innovation Outre-Mer', the launch brought together European Commission representatives, the French Overseas Ministry, EIT partners, innovators and local stakeholders for a day of pitches, exchanges and new collaborations. 💫This new Hub will: 🔹 Connect local innovators with Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem 🔹 Support entrepreneurs and talent from the French Outermost Regions 🔹 Foster stronger links between business, education and research 🔹 Boost sustainable growth and competitiveness through the EIT RIS framework 🗣️ "We recognize the strong talent and capabilities these regions hold, representing invaluable contributions to Europe’s future.
