About us
Jaipur Rugs is a family business built on the fundamental principal of conserving ancestral know-how and connecting rural craftsmanship with global consumers, in a manner that spreads kindness and benefits all our stakeholders. It uses the age-old art of handmade carpets as a tool to bring prosperity to 40,000 rural artisans of which 80% are women. Founded in 1978 by Nand Kishore Chaudhary with two looms, it now has over 7000 looms and sells in over 60 countries. Today the company creates contemporary works of art by collaborating with creative talents capable of showcasing this ancestral craft with a new vision. Our business combines the pursuit of profit with the spreading of kindness in a way that benefits all of our stakeholders: our consumers and their families, the artisans and their families, our employees, our suppliers, the buyers and channels we work with. Founder Nand Kishore Chaudhary inculcated in us a bedrock of values that combines kindness as our default demeanor, compassion for those around us, and the humility that everyone deserves dignity. This means that Jaipur Rugs will work with all those that stand for these values and it drives us as an organization to work with and tap into the creative capacity of those in society that are disadvantaged or rejected. With their help, we create the most distinct design of the highest quality, and are also able to capture the blessings of the disadvantaged such as the artisans and their families. This blessing derives from their passion and devoted labour as they receive the opportunity to grow their fortunes, self-worth and pride-and which then transform into our products. As a result, a Jaipur Rugs customer will receive the most beautiful, highest quality design together with the blessing of an artisan’s family. With this competitive advantage, we aspire to become the leader in our trade and serve as the catalyst for how our industry creates both economic and humanitarian benefit for all stakeholders.

At Jaipur Rugs, we believe creativity blooms where culture meets community. This court was more than a surface, it was a symbol of craft, connection, and the spirit of sport woven together. #wimbledon2025 #thecourtofcarpets #sw19 #rohanbopanna #tennischampionships #jaipurrugs
This year's best Wimbledon activation comes from a rural village in from Rajasthan. Let me explain... Jaipur Rugs built a tennis court out of 93 handwoven rugs. Then they taught four village weavers how to play. Then they brought in Rohan Bopanna - Indian tennis player and former World Number One. What they created is so so good and proof that you don’t need a rights deal to make people care about sport. A piece of Wimbledon storytelling that has nothing to do with the official tournament. And yet, I think it's some of the most compelling sports content you’ll see this year. No commentary. No sponsor boards. No CTAs. It's not necessary when you've got a killer creative which is executed this well. It's a masterclass in what happens when you mix imagination with identity. I broke it down in 9 slides below. Take a swipe, if you fancy ➡️

A revisit to the unseen snapshots of the interiors of Loulou’s home in Kodaikanal. A classic tapestry beneath the feet, handwoven with skill passed down through generations. Each rug is a story, one of heritage, hands, and time. Loulou’s home is an extension of her artistic spirit, layered with vintage finds, timeless art, and quiet character. The antique rugs don’t just lie beneath, they ground the space with deep crimson and earthy tones, echoing the collected, curated warmth of the interiors. These rugs embody legacy, elevate storytelling, and seamlessly complement spaces rich in culture and personality. A celebration of craft, conversation, and quiet power. Dreamers, a groundbreaking collaboration between Jaipur Rugs and Chandigarh-based artist Gurjeet Singh (@softgurjeet), was on view at Chemould Prescott Road (Chemould Prescott Road), Mumbai, from 9th May to 7th June 2025, and it left an indelible mark on everyone who experienced it. This one-of-a-kind exhibition redefined the boundaries between art and craft. For the first time, weaving emerged not merely as a technique but as a powerful language, one that spoke of unheard aspirations, subtle resistance, and lived societal truths. The installations were intimate and immersive, drawing the viewer into a deeply empathetic space where each thread carried the weight of a story. What made Dreamers truly special was Gurjeet’s personal engagement with the artisans. His time spent living among them, listening more than looking, and understanding more than observing, gave rise to works that felt both deeply personal and universally resonant. Each installation unfolded like a two-part poem, a visual and emotional double simile that invited reflection and dialogue. The exhibition was met with admiration across the art world and design community, applauded not just for its visual beauty, but for its quiet courage in centering human experience and dignity within the realm of contemporary art. #contemporaryart #textileart #artandcraft #weavingstories #artforempowerment #installationart #dreamersbygurjeet #jaipurrugs #chemouldprescottroad #artinindia #culturalnarratives #designwithpurpose #madeinindia #collaborativeart #empathyinart

Global EDIDA Award Winner- The Snake Song by Tatiana de Nicolay The collaboration between Jaipur Rugs and Tatiana de Nicolay was one brought out of pure desire of creativity and delicate details. Drawing inspiration from Albert Kahn’s Garden in Paris, the collection, Jardins du Monde invites a promenade through seven global landscapes. The Snake Song transports you to lush tropical greenhouses, where ficus, Bermuda palms, and pepper vines intertwine-evoking the melody of a Quetzal’s song and the whisper of a tropical snake. Hand-knotted with premium wool yarn, the rug embodies Jaipur Rugs’ artisanal mastery, blending ‘Gultarash’-the art of ‘finding the flower’-with tactile textures that awaken the senses. A testament to cultural discovery, natural beauty, and sustainable craftsmanship. “Each rug tells a story of cultural discovery and natural beauty, inviting homeowners to experience unique landscapes.” - Tatiana de Nicolay Tatiana de Nicolay ELLE Decor Elle Decor India Yogesh Chaudhary Mrudul Pathak Kundu #elledecor #EDIDA #elledecor2025 #salonedelmobile2025 #mdw2025 #jaipurrugs
