This month, as we celebrate Persons with Disabilities, our #VoicesofInclusion series brings you the stories of PhonePe-rs who have thrived in an inclusive environment. Meet Geeta Kumari, from the Service Recovery team at PhonePe. Geeta’s journey is one of remarkable resilience. Born 100% visually impaired, she pursued her education in Delhi, leveraging essential support from organizations like the National Association for the Blind (NAB) where she learnt how to use Braille to communicate, mobility, and most importantly how to navigate life independently. From there, Geeta pursued mainstream schooling, she completed her graduation from the University of Delhi, and even upskilled herself with a diploma in Information Technology. This pursuit was championed by her family. Coming from a small village in Guna, MP, her father’s constant support ensured she had every opportunity to grow, fueling her determination to master critical computer skills for the professional world. Joining PhonePe in August 2023, Geeta is instrumental in handling complex, high interaction tickets within Service Recovery. She works using the NVDA (Non-Visual Desktop Access) screen reader on her office laptop, demonstrating how technology bridges gaps and empowers performance. Geeta shares “A truly inclusive workplace goes beyond tools. It is about people. The environment at PhonePe is incredibly supportive and cooperative. From my manager to my teammates, there is a clear culture of acceptance. I am grateful for the support from colleagues like Ron, Ishwar, and Abhilasha (who herself is low-vision). I have found an environment that includes and empowers me to perform every day. PhonePe has built an ecosystem where I am enabled and encouraged to perform at my highest level. This has reaffirmed my belief that talent has no boundaries, no labels, and no limits.” Geeta’s determination and commitment to excellence are an inspiration to the entire organization.  Her journey is a reminder that inclusion is about more than policies; it is about people, creating systems, tools, and a culture where every employee can thrive.
