Join us on 20 November at the Italy Pavilion at COP30 Brazil for the event “Mission Innovation: Energy Solutions for Sustainable Growth”, co-organized by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security/ Ministero dell'Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica (MASE), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico - RSE SpA. The session will open with remarks from Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, alongside contributions from the two MASE Directors General Stefania Crotta and Alessandro Guerri, that will highlight Italy’s strong commitment to Mission Innovation and showcase its contribution in supporting R&I projects aligned with national goals. Afterwards, RSE CEO will focus on technology breakthrough needs to enable the #cleanenergytransition, while UNDP representative will present UNDP’s role in delivering Mission Innovation through #EnergyForGrowth. 🌍 What an inspiring event at the #COP30 UK Pavilion! On 15 November, we gathered to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mission Innovation by showcasing International Collaboration on Innovation. The GPFM - The Green Powered Future Mission Director, Luciano Martini, expertly moderated a panel discussion on public-private partnerships for international innovation with representatives from key industry players. Martini opened the session by highlighting GPFM’s ambitious vision to accelerate #powersystem innovation and thanked UK/ DESNZ colleagues for hosting the event and their leadership as GPFM co-leads, together with Italy and China. He emphasized the Mission’s bold goal to demonstrate that by 2030, #powersystems in different geographies and climates can effectively integrate up to 100% variable renewable energies, like wind and solar, in their generation mix, and maintain a cost-efficient, secure and resilient system. He also mentioned the GPFM Action Plan 2025-2027, and officially released the new four Insight Reports 2025 🚀 Extremely pleased to have engaged in the discussion with both Fiona Howarth (Octopus Electric Vehicles), who shared insights on smart grids, AI, and vehicle-to-grid innovations empowering #electrification and customers, and Rob McDonald (SSEN Transmission), who discussed bold investments in #grid infrastructure and how #AI-driven tools are accelerating network transformation and #reliability. Besides drawing out expert technical insights, the GPFM Director promoted feedback on public–private collaboration, the next wave of #innovation in #digitalisation, grid #flexibility, and emerging technologies, and invited new stakeholders and industry partners to consider joining the GPFM Private Sector Advisory Board.
