Port Esbjerg and Sky Fusion Global Supply Chain forge partnership to greenify project cargo in the wind industry 🤝 As wind turbines grow larger and global demand surges, smarter and greener logistics are essential to support the continued development of the wind industry. New solutions and strong partnerships are key to driving the green transition and scaling up wind energy globally. Therefore, Port Esbjerg has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore based Sky Fusion — a global provider of chartering, renewable energy, and supply chain services for industrial projects. The partnership aims to reduce the climate impact of project cargo transport, aligning with the International Maritime Organization’s ambition to reach net zero by 2050, where emissions per ton of freight play a crucial role. With extensive experience in the offshore wind sector, Port Esbjerg has supported 62 offshore wind projects and recently deepened its fairway to 12.5 metres to accommodate larger vessels. Sky Fusion operates a fleet of Multi-Purpose Ships with capacity of 62,000 DWT and is active in multiple offshore wind projects. Speaking about the new MoU, CEO of Port Esbjerg, Dennis Jul Pedersen, highlights the strategic importance of the partnership: “By signing this MoU with Sky Fusion, Port Esbjerg strengthens its leading role in supporting the offshore wind industry and the entire supply chain, and positions Esbjerg and Denmark as a key export hub for export and import of wind components.” By combining Port Esbjerg’s infrastructure and expertise with Sky Fusion’s high-capacity vessels, the partnership is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per ton of freight, while also providing economic benefits for shippers - and the estimated reduction in emissions could be as high as 50%.
