🏆 The state's pizza campaign has delivered the biggest year-over-year shift in how Americans perceive Connecticut in state history. A new national survey shows major gains across core attributes, especially compared to a 2021 regional survey that show top associations were "Nothing, Small, Expensive, and Boring." The perception shift didn’t end with opinions. It drove real behavior, from higher Google search interest to spikes in CTvisit.com traffic, longer stays, and a surge of long-distance travelers exploring the Connecticut Pizza Trail. Also, don't forget that New Haven, CT was a top 10 searched global destination, among the likes of Spain, Costa Rica, and India. Pizza may have been the attention-grabber, but the real win was proving that innovative, creative, and surprising storytelling can spark genuine economic impact. By showing off what makes Connecticut distinct — our food, culture, makers, and energy — we opened the door to a national conversation that had been missing for too long. The 3rd Annual CT ProStart Bootcamp was a tremendous success! ProStart students and educators from Enfield High School, Manchester High School, Norwich Free Academy, Simsbury High School and Wilbur Cross High School came together at CT State – Naugatuck Valley for a day of hands-on learning, skill-building, and industry networking. A standout moment of the day was welcoming Colton H., a ProStart student from Enfield High School, who helped lead a session on workstation setup, sharing practical tips and competition strategies from a student perspective. Thank you to the incredible industry professionals who spent their morning inspiring the next generation of hospitality leaders with their culinary demonstrations, public speaking & social media training and learning how flavors are created. A million thanks to the entire team at Gioia Cafe & Bar in New Haven, Ct. for hosting the first ever Chefs for CHEF fundraising dinner on Sunday, October 25. Chef Avi Szapiro and Tim Cabral put together an incredible team of Connecticut chefs who knocked it out of the park: Chef Prasad, Chef Avi, Chef Michelle Greenfield, Chef Tyler Anderson and Chef Chelsea Tripp. We are incredibly grateful to all involved for helping to raise funds and awareness of the foundation and supporting the future of the hospitality industry. This was also a wonderful opportunity for students in the culinary and restaurant management ProStart Program to gain real life experience in the kitchen.
