The Detroit Auto Show is one of the highlights of the year in the automotive industry, but for a select group of Ford employees, the excitement began before the doors even opened to the public. In a series of exclusive media preview events, invited employees were given a front-row seat to the high-octane reveals of the Bronco RTR—a collaboration with RTR Vehicles featuring its signature "Ready to Rock" tactical styling and enhanced off-road hardware—and the Mustang Dark Horse SC, a supercharged beast from Ford Racing that swaps the standard 5.0L for a 5.2L V8 to deliver elite levels of track-ready power. For software engineer Zachary Schallenberger, getting an early look at Ford Racing’s first high-performance sports car was a career highlight. “I loved getting up close and personal with vehicles that the public hasn’t been able to see yet,” he said at the reveal event for the Mustang Dark Horse SC. “Most auto enthusiasts would kill for an experience like that, so I feel incredibly honored to attend!” The exclusive access continued at the Detroit Proud: Off-Road Edition media event, which featured the debut of the rugged Bronco RTR. Chelsey Revita, an offroad and trailer tow attribute engineer, was thrilled by the surprise appearances. “I was excited to be able to meet Vaughn Gittin, Jr.,” she said. “I didn’t know he was going to be there, and having him speak to the Ford Bronco RTR just gave it that much more cred.” The event gave hundreds of employees the opportunity to hear from company leadership and automotive luminaries like Gittin, Jr. and Shelby Hall, a third-generation off-road racer and granddaughter of Ford desert-racing legend Rod Hall. “I love our events and talking with tons of different people and learning,” said Ford engineer Matthew Corlew. “My favorite part of the night was hearing from the team [RJ Zanon and Austin Gillis] who won Class 3 at the Baja 1000! They bought a salvaged Ford Bronco online and rebuilt it. I rebuild cars and small engines on the weekend, so it resonates for me even beyond my day-to-day work.” Product manager Garrett Johnson agreed that the evening combined high-performance excitement with a relatable mission. His favorite moment was seeing the Bronco RTR reveal firsthand. “I appreciate the focus on off-road while still keeping it attainable,” he noted. “Tonight gave me a sense of pride and vision for where we’re headed.” Ready to be part of the excitement?
