We're officially a Michigan Main Street community! 🎉 Last week, we celebrated a major milestone for northwest Detroit with the launch of our five-year Michigan Main Street initiative. We were honored to welcome Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Detroit's Deputy Mayor Melia Howard, and representatives from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Main Street America, who shared inspiring remarks about the initiative's promise for our community. Hundreds of neighbors, business owners, and local stakeholders joined us for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and vibrant block party featuring music, food trucks and BBQ from right here in the neighborhood—showcasing the spirit and character of northwest Detroit. 💪 “This is more than a program—it’s a long-term strategy that catalyzes neighborhood stability and shared prosperity,” said Live6 Executive Director Caitlin Murphy. This spring, Live6 volunteers removed thousands of pounds of trash, hosted over 20 homeowners at DIY repair workshops, and attracted hundreds of visitors to our comedy nights at Sips on Six, proving vibrant neighborhoods are built one impactful action at a time.
