🌟 Our 2025 Underwriting Training Program (UTP) participants just wrapped up Broker Week in our Chicago, IL office! This dynamic week was packed with hands-on learning, networking, and collaboration, all designed to strengthen the key relationship between Markel and our broker partners. The week kicked off with the Quote Game, where each trainee received a wall plaque featuring their favorite quote and shared the story behind it with the group. From “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” to “People don’t always remember what you say or what you do, but they will always remember how you made them feel,” these quotes set the tone for a week of growth and connection. Throughout Broker Week, UTP participants: ✅ Engaged in sessions like “Understanding the Mind of a Broker” and “How to Build, Manage, and Maintain Broker Relationships” led by Markel business development and underwriting leaders. ✅ Networked with the US Wholesale and Specialty regional presidents, previous UTP participants and local broker partners. ✅ Practiced their skills in mock broker meetings and received feedback to help them grow as future underwriters. ✅ Explored Chicago and enjoyed special events, including an evening at Flight Club and a rooftop gathering at Avli on the Park. Jada is a senior at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, studying business with a major in finance.
