MassTimber at MSU, part of MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, focuses on advancing sustainable mass timber construction and manufacturing across Michigan and the Great Lakes region. Made from a renewable resource, mass timber can be less carbon-intensive to produce than many common materials and it stores carbon absorbed by trees. As the team shared, it’s “not a new material, but a new technology” and Michigan already has “more than 65 mass timber projects” in stages of construction statewide. Visit Tall Timber: The Future of Cities in Wood at📍719 Griswold to explore real-world examples and what building with wood can open up for healthier, more attainable housing. This exhibit will be on display through February 28 and is open to the public Tuesday–Friday from 11AM to 5PM and Saturdays from 10AM to 3PM.
