Wendy’s: Serving up the best hamburger around, made with fresh, never frozen beef, since 1969.

About us

Wendy's was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio. Dave built his business on the premise, “Quality Is Our Recipe®”, which remains the guidepost of the Wendy's system. Wendy's is best known for its made-to-order square hamburgers, using fresh, never frozen beef*, freshly-prepared salads, and other signature items like chili, baked potatoes and the Frosty® dessert. The Wendy's Company (Nasdaq: WEN) is committed to doing the right thing and making a positive difference in the lives of others. This is most visible through the Company's support of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® and its signature Wendy's Wonderful Kids® program, which seeks to find a loving, forever home for every child in the North American foster care system. Today, Wendy's and its franchisees employ hundreds of thousands of people across more than 7,000 restaurants worldwide with a vision of becoming the world's most thriving and beloved restaurant brand. • At Wendy’s, I’ve learned that great careers can begin anywhere—even right behind the counter.  My journey started as a crew member in South Bloomfield, Ohio during 2020. It was there that I first recognized the importance of teamwork and strong leadership, inspired by our general manager, Jeff Hieber (pictured), whose two decades of experience motivated our team. He supported and encouraged every one of us to pursue our aspirations, and he personally helped open the door for me to connect with HR about an internship opportunity at the Restaurant Support Center after hearing it was an interest of mine. While attending Ohio University, as an information telecommunication systems major, I continued working at Wendy’s over weekends, school breaks, and summers. As my enthusiasm for the company deepened, I decided to take the next step and apply for a corporate internship. This summer, I joined Wendy’s as a Platform Engineering Intern. Beyond technical skills, I gained a deeper understanding of how Wendy’s operates behind the scenes. From managing outages to learning about different technology initiatives, this internship gave me an entirely new perspective on the business. My team was genuinely interested in my goals and went out of their way to ensure I gained valuable experiences. My advice for current crew members considering a corporate path, I’d say, take the chance, apply and go for it! My story is proof that Wendy’s offers incredible opportunities for anyone ready to embrace new experiences and grow alongside the brand.  I’m proud to have discovered my potential here, both in our restaurants and at the Restaurant Support Center. -Makenna Jones, Platform Engineer Intern

  • "I started my journey with The Wendy’s Company in 1993 as an Assistant Manager in Training, working my way up to General Manager. In 1998, I moved to a position with a franchisee and spent 13 years on the franchise side of the business before returning to the Company in 2011. Over the years, I've worn many hats—from District Manager to Field Support Manager, Franchise Area Director, Director of Area Operations, and now, Vice President of U.S. Company Operations. Throughout my career, I've always focused on building energizing team cultures, improving margins, and delivering top-notch performance and hospitality. I'm passionate about developing talent and creating opportunities for our teams to develop and grow. Currently, I lead the operations of our Company-owned restaurants in Ohio, Colorado, Massachusetts, Illinois, Florida and Michigan, where we recently acquired 35 formerly franchised restaurants. With this addition, I am now accountable for more than 400 restaurants. The acquisition in Michigan is a strategic move that aligns with our commitment to optimizing our Company restaurant portfolio to drive long-term growth, and we think this is a great market for the brand. We’re investing in these restaurants to elevate operations, deliver exceptional customer experiences and ensure we’re serving the fresh, delicious food that Wendy’s fans crave—breakfast through late night, and we’re really excited to see our customers respond. I’m honored to help lead this transformation and demonstrate the kind of operational excellence that defines Wendy’s. Recently, our Company-operated restaurants have raised the bar in performance, guest satisfaction, and operational innovation, surpassing our System’s total results in several key areas. I’m really proud of our team and this momentum makes me optimistic that expanding our direct operations will deliver even greater benefits system-wide. But ultimately, the real reward for me is seeing our teams thrive, creating connections with our customers and helping our restaurants succeed. I’m genuinely excited about the future of Wendy’s and can’t wait to see what we achieve together!" - Kevin Zarcone, Vice President of U.S. Company Operations

  • "It makes me smile every time someone says, “I love Wendy's!” after I tell them where I work. As Global Manager of Energy Initiatives, I help Wendy’s restaurants reduce energy use by finding alternative energy sources or better pricing on the energy they buy. This, in turn, lowers the cost of running the restaurant and reduces restaurant emissions.  “Operate the ONE Best Way” is one of our Wendy’s Promises and it’s central to my role. My team manages the Wendy’s Energy Challenge (WEC), an engagement program established in 2018 that encourages restaurants to adopt initiatives that support energy efficiency and help save on related energy costs. We currently have 68 franchise organizations enrolled representing over 4,000 restaurants in the U.S., Canada and the UK.   Energy plays a huge role in ensuring our food stays fresh, and our customers and restaurant teams are comfortable. Regardless of the weather, maintaining an appropriate climate inside the restaurant is essential. That means keeping things cool during hot days and warm during colder ones. To do this, my team and I collaborate with the restaurant teams to find ways to conserve energy while maintaining the ideal restaurant environment. When our food is fresh and everyone is comfortable inside, the crew are able to deliver on another Wendy’s Promise, “Made Right.” This is all about providing our fresh, famous food to every customer during every visit—all powered by energy!" - Thomas Grant, Manager - Global Energy Initiatives
