2025 Fall Associate Q&A: Dillon Koch

What is your professional background, and what led you to develop an interest in that field?

I graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science. I also completed minors in Chemistry, Biology, and Medical Humanities, having initially planned to pursue a career in medicine. After graduation, I took some time off, spending four years as a middle school science teacher in Southern California. During this time, I reevaluated my passions and transitioned to a career in the legal field.

What attracted you to a career in intellectual property law at Knobbe Martens?

As a reformed theater and band kid, I am passionate about intellectual property law because it offers the opportunity to protect creators and dreamers in the pursuit of their enterprises. Knowing Knobbe Martens’ substantial impact on supporting innovation and diligently protecting ideas, this is the perfect firm to allow me to work alongside creatives to build and strengthen their brands. I am excited by the opportunity to be involved in a wide breadth of trademark and copyright matters, providing an intellectual challenge and stretching my creative problem-solving skills.

What is one thing you enjoy doing outside of the office?

I enjoy seeing movies and plays, knitting, spending time with my cat (Peter Paw-ker, A.K.A. "Spidey"), and going to Disneyland.
