Updates

  • Meet, Sam Harker, our Event Operations Director for the Truist Championship who recently moved back to Charlotte after living here for four years as a part of the 2022 Presidents Cup team. Sam has worked for various events throughout his career including THE PLAYERS Championship and the Dell Technologies Match Play in Austin, TX, where he started his PGA TOUR career as he finished school at The University of Texas. Sam is excited to be back in Charlotte and brings experience and passion to playing his part in operating a logistically smooth event. He is also eager to continue engaging with the local community partners who play a key role in running a successful event. Playing partners for his dream foursome would include Mack Brown, Scottie Scheffler and his dad.

Driving lasting impact in Charlotte through Birdies for Better, a new nonprofit fundraising program tied to tournament play.   Birdies for Better invites fans and donors to support area nonprofits by making a contribution to the registered charity of their choice leading into the Truist Championship. In addition, individuals will submit a guess for the total number of birdies recorded during the tournament for a chance to win exclusive prizes. Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to register today and will receive 100% of all funds raised through their Birdies for Better page in addition to a portion of funds from the tournament's $100,000 bonus pool. • Introducing Rachel Goetz, Event Services Specialist for the 2026 Truist Championship. Originally from Jamison, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia, Rachel is a Penn State graduate with a degree in Hospitality Management. She additionally earned her Master’s in Sport Management and Certification in Sport Event Management from the University of Florida. Rachel plays a key role in the planning and execution of the tournament, overseeing more than 2,500 volunteers while also managing player childcare, special events, and corporate client support. Her favorite part of tournament week is the energy on the 18th green when the final putt drops—a moment that makes all the behind-the-scenes work worth it. One of Rachel’s most memorable moments in golf was leading volunteer operations for the 2024 PGA Championship. It was an unforgettable experience where she oversaw 3,200 volunteers from 43 states to put on one of golf’s biggest events. Her dream golf foursome would include Philadelphia legends Jason Kelce, Jimmy Rollins, and Julius Erving.
