I am humbled to share that I’ve been nominated 4X for the ATHENA International Leadership Award and @Athena Young Professional Award. Even if I don’t win, this is a win for all women who show up every single day—who lead quietly and boldly, who lead from the sidelines, who lift others, who build community, who make room at the table, or build a new table so others can join, and who keep going even when no one is watching. To those who took the time to nominate me from, New York, California, South Carolina, and to those who chose to remain anonymous… thank you. Your belief in me is something I will never take for granted. The ATHENA Award is rooted in The Eight Principles of Enlightened Leadership™: AUTHENTIC SELF • RELATIONSHIPS • GIVING BACK • COLLABORATION • COURAGEOUS ACTS • LEARNING • FIERCE ADVOCACY • CELEBRATION & JOY Every principle represents not perfection, but practice. And I am simply grateful that my work serving business owners, leaders, organizations, and communities is seen as aligned with these values. I’m just blessed to do what I love, alongside people who trust me with their business development, strategy and capital needs. ATHENA was created by Martha Mayhood Mertz after being told “women are not leaders.” She changed an entire narrative and decades later, this award continues to honor the women who prove that leadership has many forms and many faces. Prior recipients and nominees include: C-suite executives, university presidents, foundation leaders, a NASA astronaut, human-rights activists, philanthropists, actors, Olympic athletes, ambassadors, members of Congress, high-ranking military leaders, medical and public-health champions even a U.S. Secretary of State and a Supreme Court Justice. Notable honorees include: Ruth Bader Ginsburg • Nina Totenberg • Billie Jean King And then there’s me, someone who immigrated to this country 4 weeks after 9/11 , placed on ESL class, who became the first in her family to earn a degree, to buy a home, who now works every day to open doors for others and to ensure business owners get the resources they need. A mom, a youth sports coach, a community advocate, and someone who still believes in the power of purpose-driven work. I may not feel “deserving” of 4 nominations among such giants…but I am deeply honored. And I hope my journey reminds someone that leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about service, humanity, courage, and the impact you create for others. Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for nominating me. And thank you for believing in my work.

✨ Grateful and Proud Moment ✨ This week, I had the opportunity to represent the General Education faculty during The College of Westchester’s Preliminary Team Chair Visit with Dr. Olga Rivera Velazco as part of our upcoming MSCHE reaccreditation process. It was such a meaningful experience to be part of this conversation, one that highlights our college’s commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and student success. I was especially honored to bring both my faculty and alumni perspectives to the table and to see firsthand how CW continues to grow while staying true to its mission. I’m especially grateful for the leadership and mentorship of Dr. Erica Schacht who continues to believe in me and ensure I have a seat at the table, in rooms with leaders I deeply respect and admire. Having someone who not only recognizes your potential but also creates space for your voice is something I’ll never take for granted. I left the meeting feeling proud of the progress we’ve made and even more motivated to keep supporting CW’s mission and our amazing students. ♥️🖤 #HigherEducation #Accreditation #FacultyLife #ContinuousImprovement #StudentSuccess #Leadership The College of Westchester Latina Professionals® Women in Higher Education

It’s Hispanic Heritage month, and it feels like a difficult time to celebrate. However, it is time to read uplifting stories from Latinas and celebrate the roots that tie us to our home and our culture. If I had to write a letter to my younger self, she’d be surprised. That little girl wanted to be a doctor, not an artist or a graphic designer, yet, she lived with a pencil in her hand. She would have never dreamed of living in the US, even though she really wanted to learn to speak English. She didn’t know what the University of Michigan was, let alone thinking of living in NYC. I wouldn’t lie to her or sugarcoat the situation. I’d say it’s been a rough path, and now it’s more difficult than ever, but I’d always advice her to keep on walking because the journey is always full of surprises. I wouldn’t tell her how her romantic situation turned out, but I’d encourage her to trust her heart and own her quirks. I would tell her to eat healthy before things get more difficult to fix, dance more, laugh even more, draw more! I’d tell her to hug her parents and sister more and look at the Andes because she misses all of them. I would tell her that she’s done everything she’s set her mind to do ❤️ #LatinaProfessionals #LatinaHeritageMonth #immigrationdreams #wholesome

  • Hola, Latina Professionals! Did you know that today we celebrate a true pioneer who, le dio vida a nuestro favorite beagle, Snoopy? With the holiday season upon us, many of us tenemos la tradición de watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. He was a Mexican American making waves. At Walt Disney Studios, he put his creative touch on classics like Pinocchio, Fantasia, y Bambi. Pero aquí está lo más cool: Bill Meléndez became the only animator that Charles Schulz ever trusted con sus queridos Peanuts. For decades, he didn't just direct, he was the voice behind Snoopy’s iconic laughs y sus suspiros! He was a true orgullo para nuestra comunidad, un ejemplo de que nuestra cultura y talento have always been shaping the stories that define America. His legacy reminds us that con disciplina, corazón, y un monton de talento, we can make history. ¡Celebremos a un legendario artista whose work continues to inspire us all! 🎨✨ #LatinaProfessionals #Snoopy #NuestraCultura #BillMelendez #WaltDisney #AnimationHistory #CreativeLeaders
