This initiative is always rewarding for both sides: ✅ Students gain invaluable exposure to Hong Kong’s real estate professionals across diverse fields, including valuations, research, agency, retail, development, investment, and human capital. ✅ Industry professionals gain fresh perspectives on the evolving real estate curriculum at a world-class university. This year’s turnout was fantastic—𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 100 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 came together to share insights and build connections. A huge thank you to Professor Nelson Wong, Professor Jie (Jenny) Tian, Michelle Pun, and Gigi Wong at CUHK for their continued partnership with ULI. We look forward to making this an enduring tradition and continuing to strengthen the bridge between academia and the real estate industry. ULI is a powerful platform for universities to connect with the real estate industry—and we’re excited to keep building on this momentum. #ULIHongKong #RealEstate #Mentorship #Education #Networking #CUHK

  • The 𝐔𝐋𝐈 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 is proud to partner with Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) students at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on a year-long research advisory project focused on 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚. With aging populations reshaping urban demands across Asia, this initiative challenges students to go beyond surface-level analysis and deliver actionable insights for developers, investors, operators, and policymakers.   Guided by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐢𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐚𝐧, the students are following a structured research journey: 🔹𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠? Understanding the current state of senior housing markets—demographic trends, supply gaps, regulatory environments, and existing models in both Hong Kong and Mainland China. 🔹𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐲? Conducting a critical review of academic and industry literature, analysing case studies, and engaging in stakeholder interviews to uncover the root causes behind market inefficiencies and opportunities. 🔹𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞? 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭? Developing creative, feasible, and context-sensitive recommendations—ranging from policy reforms to innovative business and design models—and translating them into a final presentation and comprehensive report. Throughout the process, students are receiving mentorship from a dedicated team of ULI professionals from the NEXT and Young Leaders Group (YLG), who bring frontline experience in real estate development, investment, urban planning, and social infrastructure.   👏 We thank our advisor panel: Jessica Chan, Education Committee Co-Head Douglas Wu, Education Committee Co-Head Chris Lam, NEXT Committee Co-Head Iris Mak, Wendy Chan (she/her) Chan, Tom Parker, Stephanie Law and Clara Wu   These experts helped launch the project with deep-dive perspectives on Hong Kong’s unique market dynamics—from cultural attitudes toward eldercare to financing constraints and land-use limitations—providing students with real-world grounding as they shape their research.   The project will conclude in 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 2026 with a capstone presentation to the ULI advisory group, where students will share findings and recommendations with potential impact across the region.   This collaboration embodies ULI’s commitment to advancing thoughtful, solutions-driven urban development and nurturing future leaders in real estate.   Looking forward to seeing the innovative ideas these students will bring to one of our cities’ most pressing challenges. #ULIHongKong #NEXT #YoungLeadersGroup #SeniorHousing #AgingInPlace

That bold vision ignited our latest ULI Hong Kong Monthly Coffee Meetup, generously hosted by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) at their office. Thank you to Sujata S. Govada, PhD (Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD), Ian Ralph, and Stefano Tronci (SOM) for their thought-provoking presentations—and to every member who brought energy and insight to the table. Hong Kong’s CBD, with its underutilized assets and fragmented connectivity, stands at a pivotal moment for reinvention. Attendees broke into lively groups to explore three key questions: ➡️How can Central become an easily walkable district? ➡️How could Central evolve into a hub for culture, entertainment, and dining? ➡️How can Central’s building stock be repurposed for an era of shifting demand? The discussion was rich with fresh perspectives—and now we’re opening the floor wider. We’re gathering your ideas to shape an upcoming ULI HK event. Share your thoughts in the comments: How would you reimagine Central’s future? 👥𝐔𝐋𝐈 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬. Together, we’re not just discussing change—we’re building the blueprint for Hong Kong’s next great district. #ULIHongKong #RealEstate #UrbanTransformation #HongKongCBD #FutureOfCities #AdaptiveReuse
